Very random question but... I came back from the yard the other day and before changing, cuddled my young son. Within a few mins, his face was bright red with a couple of white spots. He is very sensitive and I thought he may be allergic to hay, gutted as it stops my plans of him being an international dressage star! Anyway, here is bizarre bit and reason for the post, when I took washing out of basket, I got a small white bite on my wrist. This reminded me of similar bites I used to get with my old mare who had feather mites. Do horse mites bite humans and would they survive a couple of days in dirty laundry? Has anyone any idea of what they could be or how to treat?

My old pony had a heavy burden of lice. Could I get rid of the blighters! that was until I used a product thats unfortunately no longer available.
Anyhoo, I used to get bitten by them too. The bites were nastier looking than your average midgey bite too. So yes they can bite but they prob can survive in dirty laundry as when you think about it they can live in horse surroundings/rugs etc for a while. How long Im not sure.
Make sure you wash your clothes at 60c.
