Morning people. I've just been sent the link to an arab being advertised as free to a good home. He's a 28 year old gelding and the ad is on Preloved. May I put the link on here please? I can't take him on as I've already got 4 but keeping my fingers crossed someone here can. The advertiser is based in Preston (I think) but the horse is in Evesham.
Apologies if this message is seen as advertising....I promise he's not my horse and I don't know him, I'm just really concerned for his welfare...

Hi all
I really hate these adverts..why can't people just look after their own horses until the end..??

Oh no, poor old boy. Here we go again; it's awful when the oldies get uprooted. Dear old Paris seems to settle very quickly but it sounds as though she has had a tumultuous life and is very resilient.

I just don't understand how people can do this! It makes me so cross, he's probably been a loyal little servant to someone all his life and now he's too old they don't want to know. People should realise a horse is a lifetime commitment and if you're not willing to do that get a bike to ride instead |

This also makes me angry, i would rather have my horse pts than re home at that age sorry but at least you know they cannot be harmed or end up in the wrong hands, also annoys me when adverts read " 20 years old but is more like a 5 year old" really bugs me that does, hope someone decent has him for the rest of his days. |

In an ideal world we would all keep our horses forever but sadly not everyone can. It may be that whoever owns him has lost their job in these difficult times and can no longer afford the livery bill.
I loaned my 26 year old gelding out for a few months to a lovely home as they had lost one of their horses and were waiting to get a replacement. I knew he would be well looked after and would be happy in his temporary home. He had a nice summer there and came back when the new horse arrived. I visited him while he was away and he was very happy and settled and came back happy and healthy.
It is easy to judge but sometimes there is another way of looking at things. I hope that is the case with this gelding and that the owner isn't just dumping him.

Just looked at the advert and yes sadly as joanna pointed out wants a pony for her daughter to go to shows with, the horse also looks very under weight in the pictures and by the sounds of it has been a very good horse to her over the years teaching her kids to ride. So sad and wrong. |

Hi pendragon i hope his what your looking for sounds like he deserves the best.
Barbara i wasnt having a go There is nothing wrong with what you did loaning your horse out you knew where he was going and he was always coming back to you, its the giving away free to strangers that worries me heaven knows where they can end up and the suffering they could go through. |

Pendragon, not only me -- but even better -- my horses send their biggest hugs to you....you have made our day!
Also, just so you know, it was an ad in Preloved that got me to my mare, who I ADORE, and who is my first arab
That little £500 arab bay mare on there right now rather stole my heart, but no room for her right now....maybe others will see her. |
