Dizzy Lizzie- aka Paris this morning.. nutty as a fruit cake in blustery winds and oh! so SPOOKY at volunteer Amy in her black hoodie! what is that about??? Anyway apart from another self-harming nick in her neck where she's clearly been in the hedgerow scoffing wild rosehips/wild rose shoots which she loves , the old lady is fine. Tonight whether she likes it or not she's ahving her fod in her shelter, next week it'll be just me as Amy goes back to Uni. I need Paris in to eat away from greedy willow, while she's eating I can poo pick the field and crack on... she may be Arab world royalty but I'm afraid even 'Princesses' here have to comply a little.
And evening report:
With the wet again this afternoon silly Paris and Fatty Willow were right at the bottom of their meadow, I called her up for her tea and she came at a licking trot again, head tossing from side to side! ..so much for putting her in for her tea though.. the wind was howling and it would probably have completely freaked her out so we fed her outside again under the lea of the big hedgeline in the dry! Paris 1 - Carers 0 !
EMW Willow and EMW Paris.. she is convinced i'm trying to 'jail' her!! what a performance this morning, resulting in this!, a custom made feeding enclosure, because madam will NOT be shut in her cosy little shelter to eat!
EMW Paris testing out the feeding enclosure but only because Willow is already in there! This has to be done if I am to have any time at all during the day in the short days ahead!
Paris was weighed this morning and the news are very good. Here is the update:
Wish we had pledged donations from the over 200 people who supported her at £1 a kilo... EMW Paris - Viuga- weighed in today at a satisfying 430 KILOS!!! thats another 12 kilos in 10 days...of course anyone wanting to give a retrospective donation £1=1kilo gained is very very welcome to do that :-) Total weight gain from intake at 307 kilo to today's tape reading is a whopping 123 kilos since JULY 5th. We're just a little bit pleased here and more than happy to have pinging about when the fancy takes her like a dippy 4 year old! 'Queen' Viuga is back!!
Paris bond pair, Willow, an odd pair but he so right. Willow is pure old fashioned EXmoor, built like a tank and sturdy and strong, he is rising 22 years old and has been with EMW since he was 17.
Paris responding to call.
Looking great :).
Paris (viuga) enters the 'danger zone' aka the safe feeding enclosure! This is where she can eat her feeds without Willow bothering her or trying to steal her bucket...she has a lovely warm shelter in here and the fence is open at all other times but skinny Minnie prefers to be out with Willow tucked under a thick hedgeline in her cosy Geetac donated rug.
A new update from EMW, Paris keeps putting on more weight:
Now to the good news... Changing old Paris back from her lightweight to more substantial medium weight for the evening and night I decided to give her a good brush and then weight tape her.. I think it was the 5th or 7th of October when we last taped her? well tonight she's weighed in and sitting pretty at 445kg.. quite where she's put it I don't know but there are some significant changes... she's got such long legs and high withers but her chest is wider by a long way and her hips and flank are much improved along with her neck..This will do, and even if she doesn't add an atom more now she will cope with winter providing we keep her grub going in, providing her general health stays good and providing she continues to have such a strong life spark inside her. So that is lovely news.
She is looking fantastic, and very happy - what a resilient girl she must be, considering how much she has been moved about in the past couple of years It's marvelous to see her looking so good in such a short time, and going into winter as well

Tonights blog is really just to say what a nice day it's been, despite a sharp frost the day turned out warm and sunny though being high up at the Equine Market Watch Sanctuaries (UK) yard a chilly breeze isn't far away at this time of year too. All our oldies remained rug wrapped though all have had a refit and sort of rugs this evening ready for the night ahead. Paris got a take off of hers, then good brush in lovely sunshine to encourage her bum, shoulder and neck muscles to build up and help her shed her summer coat as wel as make her comfy for the night ahead. She is now back in her snug medium weight for the night. I love to hear her sigh when she's finished her grub, happy, and goes ambling off to be with Willow. Paris also now has her new stable rug arrived ready to help her cope with falling temps ahead, it's a glorious fleece lined and wither padded job, duvet style so comfy and light for her to wear under her outdoor rug. In her wardrobe she also has a lovely wool newmarket rug for when we hit the Siberian temps mid winter too. This mare continues to gain weight steadily, so far so good. Tonight they were all, in all meadows, keen on the falling ash leaves, vitamin packed nutrition.
