hiya sure this subject has been broached before but, I havent found a saddle as yet, as comfortable to ride in for the show ring as my dressage saddle.. i have tried a couple and i am just not buying into it, I have come to the conclusion that maybe I will just do the season with my dressage this yr as its stressing me out a bit! lol I know its not completely PC but if it fits my horse and its really, really comfy surely thats a good thing to feel secure as a judge...rather than it just looking nice ..
anyone else show in dressage be interested to hear back from you and other opinions..thanks!! x

I have shown in my dressage saddle but only under judges who I know to ride with a "long leg" or those who have a dressage background. I still use my show working hunter saddle for judges who ride short, often those with a show pony background or who ride with a "forward seat". So, for me, it really depends on who the judge is.

I always show using a dressage saddle also...as long as it fits the horse & the rider, is in smart/tidy enough condition & does'nt have huge big knee & thigh rolls, I can't imagine a judge would take issue with it. I have several friends who are on the ridden panal & I know non of them would ever place a horse down the line, just because it DID'NT have a showing saddle on! Kim |
Many years experience owning & riding my own horses. Fell in love with Arabians at 11 years old when given a ride on "Trevallion", a 3/4 bred who was a livery where I worked as a stablehand. I have never forgotten that ride, Thank You Yvonne- should you ever read this!I now have 2 beautiful purebreds.
