What is it with people and not pooh picking? I have 4 liveries and none of them pooh pick apart from the odd wheelbarrow. I was raging tonight to find in 1 of the fields 2 massive piles of pooh behind a bank and also along field there is gap between fence and wall...yep loads of it flung over fence. They were told to clear it all up including all the pooh flung over fence. I would add extra onto livery and do it myself but I work full time so don't have time. I can't do pooh picking in winter till weekend. I did put on yard rules that pooh picking to be done everyday but obviously with people working and dark nights they could wait till weekends but if they done this field would need to be completely emptied of all dung at weekend like I do.

Second thread this week on poo picking.....want a job doing well, do it yourself! Know you don't have time, but dosen't it make you mad? It would be nice to trust people wouldn't it? If you ask for it to be done then it should be done. Surely owners must know that its for the good of the horse and land.....lazy b's. |

It makes me very mad. I didn't realise how bad it was till walked down field they were in. I hate pooh picking myself but it is a job that needs doing whether you like it or not. |

Proctorclaire, you have a tough job ahead of you......read the riot act to your liveries. This is your land and you must protect it. State that time MUST be set aside to keep paddocks clear of poo. Trouble is, I suppose, that you worry about upsetting your clients as they are an income for you. But rules are rules.....they must poo pick!Try and set up a rota or an incentive.... poo pick and a % will be knocked off your rent....worth a shot. |

I don't poo pick. When I was on a livery yard without enough grazing I did, and often in the dark. Now I have 6 on 15 acres so it gets harrowed |

i dont pooh pick either, both my rented fields get harrowed by farmer, when i was on a livery yard i pooh picked everyday, though some other liveries didnt it used to infuriate me, but they ignored livery owner. perhaps offer to harrow and put rent up or they pooh pick as requested. |

On another thread someone suggested/said that they charged everyone an extra pound a day and employed someone to do it. Sounds like the perfect solution to me! So thought i'd mention it |
