The OH went to bring Baggy in tonight, and found him nose to nose with what he thought was Baggy's big ginger tomcat (it lives in his stable). But when he got closer he realised it was ...a vixen! He was about 6 foot away before the fox took fright and ran off.

What a character Baggy is! When he was young, he had a pet guinea fowl - he's since had other cats, a pheasant, those sheep and now a fox!

Incidentally, if he was human, we reckon he'd be Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock - those wild dark locks, sharp cheekbones and high intellect!

Our p/b homebred used to sleep in the field with a neighbour's jack russell terrier curled up against his chest, when we finally could keep him at home he started sleeping with a fox curled up there - smelt awful!

Sadly we lost him, and a couple of years later his purebred great nephew came to live with us, and did exactly the same thing (we assume it was the same fox, since he hasn't done it with any other animal). None of the other horses ever smelt of fox, so it was just those two.

Bless him. Such trust in the universe.

We had a jack russel who played with a fox around the bales of hay one summer. It was wonderful to watch.

i love foxes we have foxes and deer that sleep together in our field shelter with the horses stood outside watching and what looks like protecting them ive seen horses foxes and deer all in field shelter together, hilarious all asleep, its warmth and company i think, the most vicious was thr ROBIN which was most put out and would sit on window of shelter shouting at them all
