Got a call from my yard owner this evening, she thinks Zara has laminitis. She has pulses in her feet and was obvious pain in each hoof, led her in from the field and she walked fine and made her a deep bed, she isn't lying down and is looking bright and well in herself. I feel so ill, my poor girl :( I'm not there when she needs me (she's kept at the yard where I work and today was my day off so they look after her)
I'm going up early tomorrow and the vet is coming out. I'm praying it's just the hard ground taking it's toll on her feet :(

Fingers crossed that she is OK and is back to her normal self soon. Typical that it happened on your day off!
Good luck.

Fingers crossed for you and Zara. If it is laminitis the prognosis is better when caught early, wait and see what your vet says, think positive. |

Fingers crossed for her. Sounds like you caught it really early. I was only thinking the other day, with all this odd grass growth this year it will be hard to see the start of the September flush - but I did a field inspection last night and it is definately here, bang on 1st September.
Hope your mare responds really quickly |

Thankyou everyone, I'm happy to say Zara is doing well. She had a touch of Laminitis, she has been in since then on a deep bed with very small amounts of soaked hay at regular intervals and she is much, much better. No lameness, no digital pulses, and is as bright and cheeky as ever. I'm so relieved |
