Here is a photo of my 'Horse of a lifetime' ZORION sired by Orion, Dam by General Grant. He was foaled in 1976, one of the first foals bred by Silverdale Arabians. He's a three year old in this photo which is one of the only ones I have of him. They don't make them like this anymore! Not extreme enough for today's standards I know, but every inch an Arabian stallion who did very well in the show ring in his day. He was a bad tempered sod who didn't suffer fools gladly, but I loved him from the first second I saw him and we had a bond that ran deep and true. It shattered my heart when he went. I had so many dreams and hopes for a life together that never came true, but I count my blessings that we shared at least some time along the way and I was there at the end for him. Zorion, you broke my heart, but I loved you and always will. I still miss you everyday. If anyone has a horse along his bloodlines please let me know. There can't be many left now? Treasure your horses. They are all unique and to share your lives with them is an honour and time with them always too short. xxx

Numbbum (2 b's, confusing!). He looks the sort to keep you on your toes . You ask if anyone has horses of similar bloodlines, I have just worked out a Crabbet % for someone just now and her horse has General Grant in its pedigree, I've got it right here, he's 100% Crabbet. Funny you should mention Silverdale Arabians, I found out last week that Kes spent some time there whilst being shown by Caroline Reid (Reeves). Last night I found the results of when he was shown at Nationals in 2008, was a nice surprise as he did well bless him |

How lovely.
My 1st Pure Bred Arabian was a stallion called Gabriel by General Grant and I loved him to bits. Proper prancy dancy stallion when ridden but you knew he would never hurt you and look after you.
Here he is
I lost him in 1990 after he had a Coronory thrombosis and I was devastated and he led the way with me still having Arabs today

What a lovely boy and so General Grant and Orion at the same time!
I had a lovely stallion who was a General Grant grandson and you can see the likeness.
Here are some photos of hime (v. sorry it is his RIP thread but can't access my Flickr account from here) http://www.arabianlines.com/forum1/topic_new.asp?TOPIC_ID=42678&SearchTerms=desert,magic. There is a photo of his Dam Desert Magic a GG daughter. Such a resemblance don't you think?
My stallion had such a generous temperament and so affectionate, I think a lot of it came from the GG line.
How lovely to see that photo of Zorion. |

Thanks to all for your kind words. How I miss him, even though he could be a real devil at times! Offira, what a beautiful horse. So like Zorion and such a wonderful story. So sorry you no longer have him with you. Kazzy, Gabriel looks like he was an amazing boy as well, again you have my condolences at no longer having him around. Zorion had the heart and courage of a lion (or should I say a true Arabian) Gone, but, never, ever, forgotten and totally irreplaceable. |
