Wanted this to be a yeah sert did well post but all I want to do is cry :(

I get a lot of stick with Sert, no he dont look like an arab but he is, its not his fault he look like a little tb. The only thing he has is common with a tb is his exracer past and he cant do those classes either. So I never bother doing the purebred classes its to much hassel to be slagged off from the ringside. Ive only ever done the RAGW shows as the judges and people understand hes different.

Well due to the post about "Saving our local shows" and the fact I was told the judge at Llanedi knew what they were on about I had a go at the inhand pure bred and mixed ridden.

We were the only ones waiting to go into the ring and I was told by a man at ringside I was waiting for the wrong class and shouldn't he be plaited :( I just wanted to cry they laughed when I said he was purebred. Well we went in and walked round twice then told by the steward to stop as two were missing. We waited then I was told to trot and we were pulled in for the individual trot up. Well we won but only because we were the only ones there :( no more no less

So then thought I had plenty of time to tack up and change as there were three Part bred classes but only one turned up so didnt even have time to warm up. He went well apart from a buck going into canter and we were 3rd but won the highest placed purebred trophy. Well I was chuffed with him he behaved lovely and considering I was so nervous of him he went on trial to be sold over christmas I think our bond is returning slowly.

Well untill tonight, Im so upset to read on here that I knew there were people missing from the class (yes the steward told me) and I saw them running up and down. Well im sorry but the first time I saw the horses were during the ridden class :( its really upset me and I know im probally just tired after a long day but I cried when I read the other post. I know not many of you know me but I love my horses and the love of competing is a bonus. I work hard for what I do and its really upset me that someone would think that id be so selfish to not say anything to keep the class for myself (my words not theirs) you can have my rossette no problem my horse behaving and me not being scared was enough of a prize

Sorry to blab on but im getting upset just writing :(

Sorry that you're upset, not sure what I can say other than to ignore what people say and just focus on the enjoyment you get from your horse and keep working at the ever strengthing relationship and pretty soon their comments won't even be worth mentioning

Don't be upset, its only one persons opinion. AT the end of the day you know he's the best horse in the world and although a rosette is nice its only a bit of ribbon.

At most local shows the judges are not panel judges, it may help to identify Sert if you were to show him in an arab bridle. It is correct to show a Part Bred in a pelham type bridle so thats maybe why they are not realising that he is a purebred.

I haven't read the other post you mention but YOU made the effort to get yourself and your horse ready for this show and YOU do deserve the rosette. Well Done You Two is what I say

Thank you for that with the bridle, :) wont be doing inhand arab again. Usually plait him and take him in the small hunters think i'll go back and leave the class for the arabs that look like arabs

I don't post on here very often and I haven't read the other post but I just wanted to send you a big virtual hug! A friend at the RC I used to compete at had the same problem, hers was a pure bred but looked more like a TB. Most judges accepted he was pure without question but one guy was just plain rude and I thought she was going to thump him! She even offered to get his passport from the lorry to prove his breeding! Anyway, just plod on, if you're having fun and getting a better bond with Sert then keep going and don't let anyone take your results or your own accomplishments away from you :D

Oh don't let one bad experience put you off. It really doesn't matter. He's YOUR horse AND you get to take him home.

I think the funniest thing a judge has ever said to me in the ring was when she made a remark about my Mountain and Moorland stallion. I said 'Ahem, SHE is a PURE bred arab MARE'. It was a best turned out class.

You just have to laugh it off.

As for Arabs that look like Arabs - my 87% Crabbet purebred has often been accused of being a quarter horse cross, and showing is all down to personal prejudices on the part of the judge, so it's hardly worth taking it personally

One of my quarter horses once won a pure bred thoroughbred class at a local show!!!!! There were no other classes for him and i wanted the experience. Didn't know wether to be pleased or insulted.

Wel done you and Cert. Does it really matter that he doesn't shout arab at people. If he is a good friend and an enjoyable ride i would just enjoy him and show in any class you feel able to.

Thanks guys, just to add the judge was fine with him :D

TBH me and my mum chuckled when we watched his DVD of him racing in his racing days. He was so different from the others lol Thinks hes coming so well for a exracer that was sold (to the lady we bough him from) with an injury to his tendon

Hi Sarah
Don't let it spoil your day, I know how hard you've worked with Sert and am I imagining it or didn't he do some lovely dressage tests only a few weeks ago

It really isn't your responsibility to make sure other people are in the ring at the right time ,

Have had a lovely apology of the lady, It was the lady that was in the part bred class that they had spoken too, the purebred class we were all supposed to be in was the class before. I think they thought the p/bred lady was in the purebred class.

Dressage going fab with him :) hes a good boy, and weve qualified for all the championship classes I wanted him to try for :) missing you both mandy xxx

Don't cry Sarah, I love reading your posts about your horses, Vera has a very valid point, show him in an arab halter and be proud of him, as I know you are, a big hug to you and well done,

Hello Sarah, please don't be upset, he is a beautiful boy, when I saw your other thread I though, I do like him, nice boy

I would do what Quarabian did; just for the fun of it.

Around me people are anti Arab, and I so wish they would look at my ponies for what they do not what they expect them to do (except Wilz, who is nuts - earth to Wilz ).

I know there is a big emphasis on the Arab look, but my interest is their personalities and beautiful movement.

Be proud of yourself and your boy

Sarah, Sert is a lovely boy! Continue to be proud of him and do not be put off taking him out in hand or ridden as a Purebred - my mare has not got an "exotic" head but she does really well when we go out and about - as you can see she is far from exotic!!

An Arab is soooooo much more than a pretty head (a pretty head is merely the icing on the cake!) and at the end of the day you cannot ride a head

But think of all those times when you dont get marked down for having an arab because the judge doesnt know what shes looking at....I reckon we get a good 6 marks taken off at the beginning of every dressage test for being rather typey!

"Wanted this to be a yeah sert did well post but all I want to do is cry"

How Sad. There are always people who will try to burst your bubble; don't let them do it. Hold your head up and be proud of yourself and your horse. It is usually small minded people who get some sort of pleasure in spoiling others happiness. I haven't read the other posts but even if you had seen them running up and down how on earth would you have known that they were supposed to be in the same class as you.

You both look lovely and not all Arabs are "show" types. He is a lovely colour, wish some of my "pretty" greys were that lovely dark bay (although they do try hard when it's muudy, bless them)!

Good look and SMILE, nothing will upset the "nasties" more than knowing that they haven't managed to spoil your win.

Barbara

I used to love reading your posts on you and sert, keep them coming and enjoy. It is not anyones responsibility but ones own to get to a show and the ringside on time.

Stewards have a list of entries they can choose to wait or not, no one elses call.

Well done and carry on having fun.

Yes Barbara, absolutely; and anyhow, I don't see how its a competitors job to say when the class starts, or look around for other possible competitors, if the Steward had seen them and went ahead anyway, well .....

Moatside: she is stunning, beautiful graceful girl.

maybe the person that was rude to you was ignorant about arabs so feel sorry for him,as he did not realise how many different types of arab there are,and they all look completely different eg a crabbett and an egyptian, maybe the poor man on the sidelines needs an education offer to buy him a book next time you see him

OMG!! Can I just put some of you straight, Sara thinks that I was talking about her horse and her, my fault!! I listened to others and thought that the only exhibit in the Arab class was the lady who talked to me...that's it if any body cares to take a look at said posts they will see that I held my hands up and never once said it was anyone else's fault than our own for missing the class, Neither have I said anything about her horse, I apologised numerous times, but am now wondering why as I seem to have been made to look as though I have been mean to Sara. I did not even see her there my only crime is having a rant because the show rushed the Arabs through again which tends to be the norm around here. I was going to bump up the Pontardulais post as we WILL be losing this show but I won't bother now, this whole thing has been blown ridiculously out of proportion as I did not even mention Sara or Sert let alone know they were at the show, I have said this to Sara numerous times and I am not going to continue apologising, before you judge me take a look at the post Llanedi show!!
