Hi hope I can help with your question "what type is a Part Bred Arab"
A Part Bred Arab, provided it has a minimum of 12.50% Arabian blood is eligible to compete in any affiliated Part Bred Arab classes
For the Showring Judges generally prefer a type which, whilst showing some Arab characteristics does not look too `Araby` Anglos and Part Bred Arabs also exhibit in Hack Riding Horse Competition Horse etc etc classes, where certainly Judges in those classes, would not favour the `Arab` look but would appreciate the quality Arabian blood instills..lightness of action and loose paces, naturally forward going attitude and an all round attractive look, well conformed with the added expression, Arabian blood instills
Obviously as you have done well in Sport Horse classes, clearly the Judge is not being biased against his Arab look and is appreciating his conformational ability and action,to be a potential Sport Horse. More recently, those competing Pure Arabs in open Dressage, Event and BSJA classes and flying the flag for the breed, are starting to convert some of the former anti Arab brigade and turning heads!!
We are Anglo specialist Breeders, but have bred one or two Part Bred Arab ponies over the years. Our Clients prefer Anglo Horses with no more than 50% Arab blood. The ideal is between 25%-37.50% Arab blood which is our preference to produce a horse with good conformation, size, scope and performance bloodlines, capable of being a top class show horse, who can then go on to prove a capable open competition horse, in a variety of equestrian disciplines
Customers for ponies, prefer the very minimum 12.50% Arab blood in their Riding Ponies and Show Hunter Ponies with very few, if any, favouring 50-75% Arab blood
Perhaps you could post pics of your youngster and invite further comment from other A/L`s to give you an open view regarding Part Bred Arabs
