Preview 22nd May :- The President of the UAE Cup Stakes (The Curragh, Ireland)

A quality and select field go to post for The President of the UAE Cup Stakes, and the selection is Umm Qarn Farms outstanding mare Raqiyah who won the UK Group 1 President of UAE Cup Challenge Derby over 10f/2000m at Ascot in 2010, and came third to stablemate General in the Group 1 Qatar World Cup at Longchamp. This year she has won twice in Qatar inc. the HH Heir Apparent Trophy over 10f and the Group 1 Qatar International over this trip.
Dangers include - Emmamer from France who had some good efforts last year including winning the Prix Aicha over 7f/1400m before chasing home Nahswan Al Khalidiah in the Group 2 Prix Damas, this season he has looked impressive when winning the Prix Djouras Tu at Mont De Marsan. The UK has a strong team, Bill Smith fields two smart performers for the Athbah Stud inc. Group 2 winner Altobello and former American Derby winner Theoretically, whilst Julie Green runs Zayin Barakaldo who looked impressive when winning his maiden over 7f at Wolverhampton (beating Takaamul who went on to win on Dubai Day and in the UAE) and when scoring in a Premier Handicap over 6f at Kempton; and Beverly Deutrom has Hidalgo who has plenty of speed and has won 3 times from 6-8 f and goes well fresh (has won on his seasonal debut for the last 3 years) .
