Looks like Patriot has been getting up to mischief again, brought him in to find a nice strip of hair missing right across his star and above one eye. Dont know if it was an argument with another horse or something he caught himself on, but im very relieved it wasnt deep! Bummer, i love his star and now its half bald! Was hoping to maybe to take him to a couple of fun shows this year so i hope it grows back quick!
aww poor patriot. Its always a wonder how they get injured i agree with the aloevera magical stuff and so is dermisol. gizzy did the same down her hind canon two days before a show and its almost covered and that was only two weeks ago.
Ouch!! Little monkey How do they get themselves in these scrapes? Another vote for aloe vera gel, its worked on all Sunnys continuing collection of mischief induced bald spots!!
LOL little monkey is being polite I am heading to the store for aloe vera gel on the way to the barn tomorrow morning! I like that, Mischief Induced Bald Spots. MIBS LOL.
I am sure it will grow back quickly. Jazz did quite a deep gash in her face with a flap of skin hanging off as well (not what you want in your palomino show horse!!). It healed really quickly and no scarring. My vet says that wounds on the head heal really well because there is a really good blood supply.
I really must post the picture of our pony's attempt to scalp herself one day. It was horrendous - ear to ear gash and you could lift the top of her head up like a hat . She had about 60 stitches like a browband across her forehead and an almightly headache but you cant tell it ever happended now.
