Such a terrible tragedy - I can't imagine what they are going through. I would never have an American barn just because they are so difficult to evacuate in the case of a fire.
Horrific, those poor horses (and of course the calf), no wonder the owners are devastated. I agree with Keren about the dangers of an American style barn - so difficult to get all the horses out in a fire.
