One in a Million......you would search forever, for a kinder, gentler Mare, a true equine Princess who could be handled and ridden by the smallest child or grandma, adjusting her paces so never to pull or drag her leader.
Wrenthorpe Ballerina was a large Hack, Anglo Arab, sired by our late stallion Sunray Scelebrity. She was literally train proof...always having a serene calmness and yet oozing presence with the most amazing ground devouring stride.
Shown highly successfully in hand and ridden at the Majors, before retiring to the paddocks, proving an equally successful brood mare, her total trust always made handling her foals so easy as they all inherited her `people friendly` disposition. She leaves behind a lookalike daughter, the successful Anglo Mare Spellsbury Sentiment and a two year old filly, who hopefully will ensure her bloodlines continue in future generations. Her two gelding sons, Spellsbury Supernova and Spellsbury Significance, have amassed a good share of championship awards.
Louse has owned Lucky for seventeen happy years and she was purchased following the sudden death of her Breeder Sandra Turton of the Wrenthorpe Stud, in Wakefied, Yorkshire.
Wrenthorpe Ballerina was 21 years.....she will be very sadly missed and her passing will be much mourned by all those who had had the privilege to have shared time in her life
A true Lady......may the pastures be evergreen as you graze peacefully with your Sire and Dam, on the other side of Rainbow Bridge, dear sweet Ballerina
Wrenthorpe Ballerina ...Happy and relaxed at Midland Counties Show as a six year old
Her gelding son, Spellsbury Supernova is on the far right in our profile pics and Spellsbury Significance, second on left as a yearling

Babs, what a moving tribute to a stunning and much loved mare. You write so beautifully. Lucky sounded as if she was everything you could wish for in a horse and so very much more. She will clearly be sadly missed by those who shared her life, as she obviously captured the hearts of all who knew her.
Sorry for your loss.... |
