Please can anyone help....and email me a copy of the current AHS judges List. I thought I could download one from the AHS site....can't find a link anywhere. (Is there one on there?)
Need to do this urgently as I am trying to get a panel judge for later in the year. (New project).

Hi Brenda - it isnt on the website because of the data protection act - would be very wrong to list all judges personal details addresses and telephone numbers for anyone to see and use. We have a booklet and I will ask Maggie to post you one out on Monday if that is OK. |

Thanks everybody. I can understand that azeer. Many Association do post their judges list on their websites, Ponies (UK), NCPA, HIS, Sport Horse etc. I got confused and thought I'd seen one on the AHS website before. My apologies.
My eternal thanks to Sally Wrigglesworth who posted one out to me. We are now sorted, at least on this occasion.

Whilst we're on about judges we could do with some more getting on the panel - particularly ridden ones - apparently no additions for 2011 - I've asked ... |

PS Yes other societies do have their lists available for all - CHAPS for example can be viewed/downloaded by anyone. |

Under the data protection act information must only be used for the purpose for which it is intended, not something that can be guaranteed if distributed on teh web - open to abuse. Whilst I can wholly understand why people think it would be useful I can also tell you that I see first hand, on a daily basis, the results of account takeover, impersonation of another person trying and getting credit/ loans fraudulently etc and the ensuing distress that causes individuals as a result of their personal data being used and the footprints that leaves on their credit history and the lengths they have to go to getting everything erased. I dont think people realise how little data someone needs to have to try and start impersonating someone. |

Appreciate what you're saying above but what about us show secretaries then whose details are by necessity widely published? None of us want to do anything to encourage such crime. So are societies such as CHAPS in breach of the date protection act? |

While on the subject of data protection, it has always concerned me that exhibitors names and addresses are published in show catalogues. While not on the internet open for the world to access, it is still a worry that not all show attendees may not be completely honest...... |

The Classic Show has stopped putting in exhibitors addresses. It's very difficult - breeders, show trainers etc want people to know about them but obviously the RIGHT people ... I suppose it's a big worry particularly for multiple day shows - it is known where you live and that you're away at a show ... |

kate b - I have been on the receiving end of 'hate mail' following a show where my details were published in the catalogue .......I always request now that my details aren't published. |

Perhaps it would be a good idea to approach the AHS and ask if it is necessary to publish personal details in catalogues? |

OMG - What have I started? Being open, and quite honestly naeive, none of these warnings ever entered my 'nebulous' head. Not only the warnings on this thread has given me 'food for thought' and changes to my shows' "information" will now be better protected.
I noticed on FB someone was warning people that 'your telephone numbers' are now publicised on all your friends phone lists. No longer kept in your profile. Changing your profile - will return your number to the privacy you require. I was shocked as this was a new 'thing' I didn't know about. Then again I'm not that familiar with FB. Surely this is also a breach of data protection.
Not that I've got anything to hide...but who knows when sinister characters are lurking?

Thats the worrying thing Brenda, not everyone is as honest as they might appear.... One of our very own judges was convicted of fraud just yesterday. Makes you wonder who else is lurking out there!! |
