I wonder if it could be FLEURETTE II by Sahara out of Balis (AHSB Vol I) by Seyal out of Bukra. Dark Grey, star, born 1922. Bred and owned by Mr D, Aldridge Listed in The Arab-bred Register 1925. There was a Fleurette born 1921, grey with star listed in The Arab-bred Register of 1921. Same owner and breeder. Sonia born 1923, grey, blaze and socks was also of the same breeding and same breeder/owner. She is in the 1925 register. Perhaps names were changed later in life? Fleurette(Silver Sand I), Fleurette II (Silver Sand II), Sonia (Silver Sand III) all three full sisters bred by the same owner...

Thanks Melynda for the imput, If you have any proof of change of Name (s) please can you let me know.... Although I think both these mares were born and bred with these names, I do wonder if both went to live in the same ownership and one may have been changed. So I'm a bit interested and you've got my attention..
I have the 1922 - 1924 National Pony Stud book, but these are Not included....
Lynda, Please can you check your later NPS for these two, one bred by Denis Aldridge( who had Sahara) and the other by Mrs A S Russell (of Valentine fame).
Just another thought Melynda, I understand that Sahara had around 20 offsprings, he arrived here in 1914 and ended his days in the New Forest. Still looking for many of these twenty or so..
Thanks for the help & keep at it... Sue |

Hi Pelle, has your Mother got the details where these ponies were recorded, Owner, etc. I'd like to follow up on it.
Also, the two Silver Sand's II & III, may be recorded in one of the NPS stud books after 1924, any chance you can have a look for them, if you have these volumes please...
And at least the First Silver Sand's dam, may have been a lot sold at the Radnorshire sale. I am alos looking for a Chestnut Colt out of the TB mare SPREE, both Mare & Colt may have also been sold at the final Radnorshire Sale..any chance you could look at the catalogue for that sale..and if poss tell me who the Auctioneer was...Please.
Cheers Sue |
