I have been persuing a showing career for my girl and she has been saying load and clear that she didn,t want to do it. I gave her a break from the relentless schooling and started going out on pleasure rides; way hey; she loved it. Marching out like an endurance Arab really enjoying every minute. I then took her to a couple of jumping clinic,s just to give her a change from the norm; and again she loved it. It turns out that I have an extremly keen jumping pony. First time out we got a first, second time a fifth and then a teenage girl offered to take her out on the affiliated tracks. Her second time out, she was jumping a British Novice class showing bags of potential. OMG; I have never seen an Arab jump like her. The biggest problem now is saddles. Has anybody managed to fit a jumping saddle on an Arab? Extra Wide fitting, no withers, flat backed, forward girth groove and developing shoulders. Ten saddles yesterday and nothing would go anywhere near! Any suggestions?????

We got a Rachel Bayliss saddle for Taragun (£1,000) and it fits all our Arabs beautifully - it even fits Heron.
If you're taking it seriously, it really is best to invest in a good, well fitting saddle to avoid back problems and allow proper shoulder movement. You wouldn't believe the difference a good saddle makes for jumping.
Harry had a Prestige but we had problems with him being able to lift his front end properly. We've just had a Sue Carson fitted for him (definitely not cheap!!) but the diffference is amazing. It's like someone has cast a magic jumping spell on him. |

Seconded!!
And if you want to do different disciplines or have different riders you can change your flaps to suit whatever you need |

Thanks everybody; I have another saddler out on Wednesday, so I will let you all know how I get on. My mare has a British Novice class tomorrow so I will try and get some shots to show you her huge well rounded jump. |

How did she do?
Have you tried a Stubben (the new ones)? I'm riding a huge Belgium WB with a very flat back - I can't get on with her owners Pessoa at all (i'm used to riding in Dressage or Showing Saddles lol) so have been lent a Stubben Jump Saddle and it's lovely! Got a nice deep seat and seems to fit almost anything! |

My stallion competed affiliated and he had a Fylde Saddlery jumping saddle, cant remember the exact model, but it fitted him with no problems. He also had a Stubben which was a dream on him, but too uncomfortable for me. Good luck with your jumping, I love to hear of Arabs doing serious jumping |
