I Took half day today to go up and check kiara in the light as it has been about 5 weeks since I seen her though she is checked everyday. We were beggining to think with all this weather she might need to come in and was organising a stable for her. But when I seen her today I need not worry as the ground was dry and still hard, and still lots of good grass on it so she should get another month on grass before she has to come in. The only problem is she has gotten so fat, I couldn't feel her hip bones never mind her hidden ribs and she has a crest on her neck that would put a stallion to shame here is a couple of pictures she will be backed when she comes in and put on a diet.

OMG!!
'Big stout mare' is something of an understatement!!
'Isn't spooky' - wouldn't have thought so, either. The effort needed to spook would probably give her heart failure!! |

that is one fat pony I thought kiara was fat enough during the summer but no where near what she is now and I thought she can't possibly get any fatter but after seeing that mare I am in disbelief how could anyone let there horse get so fat it isn't hard to put them on a diet and give them regular exercise I hope who ever gets the pony will have more sense and get her back to a decent weight before it takes its toll |

Gosh that is shocking - the pony in the link, not Kiara.
I am amazed at how quick the weight goes on. I have worked hard all summer to keep Eba trim, as even looking at a blade of grass seems to pile the pounds on. All was good until this recent warm spell. I couldn't get up to do anything with her that week - not that we do masses anyway as she was only backed this summer - and well, I weigh taped her this evening and felt awful. I guess at least the weight has gone on now as the cold sets in.
Someone was busy chiding me for not feeding her after riding her last week - we only walked with a little trot for about half an hour with a couple of lateral moves, hardly what I would call work, therefore, I didn't think she needed extra. Instead I gave her a good massage, and she seemed happy with the extra attention instead of work. If I fed her after every ride she would be the size of a bus too.

I have a fat hairy A-rab who is doing a good impersonation of a Sec C at present (Jamana), but this pony would make 3 of her!
