Originally posted by templarsFirst of all - we can't believe how well Gorjus George has settled! He's Mr Cool and he's already become part of the herd. He loves being bathed and groomed. He's inquisitive without being pushy, calm without being a wuss and just one of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet - and of course, so, so glamorous
When I originally posted, I said there would be other good news and I'm thrilled to bits to say that another new arrival joined us this week. Thank you so much to Laura and Sue (Mrs Vlacq) for letting us have the wonderful pure Anglo mare
Vlacq Talanique, by their wonderful old boy Hipu Who (sadly no longer with us) out of the Shah Shadow mare, Lorindol. Tally is Sparky's niece
so it's wonderful to keep a proven performance line going. That little dun man who started it all off for Evie now welcomes his niece as a brood mare.
Here she is - the wonderful and lovely - Vlacq Talanique (with her daughter Vlacq Hectique)
And just for those who may not rememer Sparky (
Vlacq Tinwe), here he is taking the Junior Show Jumping Championship at the Nationals and then showing that he really did know how to be a "show horse" (but he hated it!!)
And here's a summary of our new arrivals due next year:
Sadly, no pure breds due next year but we do have one part bred, two pure Anglos and one pure Thoroughbred due
First the part bred. Evie's eventing pony
Twist Hoeves Nancy (who is herself 40% Arab) was bred in Holland and won Sports Pony Gradings over there before coming to the UK to event. She has been confirmed in foal to Harley's sire, the son of the wonderful Imad, our very own,
Last Crescendo. So:
and
This will be Nancy's first foal and the intention is that Evie will compete it when it's old enough. We're hoping it will mature around 15.0 - 15.2 (Cresh throws very large offspring despite being compact and bijou !!!!)
Now the pure Anglos:
First
Harley's sister, the ultra glamorous
Templars Cultured Pearl (Silvern Sceptre x Templars Magic Pearl) is in foal to the TB stallion
Calcutta. Molly, as she is known had a successful showing career as a youngster and she stands 15.3, bright, bright chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail.
I don't have a recent photo of Molly but here she is in the field (the one on the right hand side) with her dam, Templars Magic Pearl (Harley's dam), and her grand dam, Hadida Pearl.
and here's Calcutta - chosen for his stamina (he ran 101 times, covering over 100 miles and retired sound) and for his super temperament.
And last but by no means least - our Egyptian x Old English mare,
Oakthwaite Shamtar is in foal to Harry's sire,
Prince of DarknessHere's Shammy with Evie a couple of years ago
and here is Prince of Darkness (POD to his friends)
We chose POD because we are so pleased with his offspring and Harry has such amazing talent that we wanted to see if we could re-create it and combine it with Arabian blood and enhance it a bit
This is what we're hoping will result - Harry (
Autumn Dancer)
And here is our young pure Anglo gelding (Pip)
Against All Odds by Djammal our of Lady of the Lamp (sister of Miners Frolic). We are very grateful to Tina Bennett who has agreed to take Pip and start his education for us. Watch our for him and Gorjus George next year!!!
The beautiful and talented Taragun sadly reabsorbed her foal and (as is the style of all prima donnas) demanding first class attention to help her with this all too bothersome task of baby making!!!! The vets love her to bits and we are all very hopeful that her age will not go against her. All plumbing working fine, she just doesn't like sex!!!
