The handler is of course Hugh Segre :) who with wife Michelle bred Phaaroah. I have two half sisters both by Aazari and bred by Hugh and Michelle, and one is hopefully coming out under saddle next year - she too is absolutely stunning! What a wonderful ambassador for pure bred Arabians Phaaaroah will be with Templars and Evie!. Hugh and Michelle breed so impeccably for good looks and performance. |

Thanks everyone - well he's finally arrived after a long, long journey but he was a complete star!!
OMG - this horse looks good on video but in the flesh - WOW - he is absolutely mind blowingly beautiful - in looks AND character.
One of the reasons we wanted him was exactly because of who bred him and handled him - we knew he would have a wonderful, balanced and sympathetic babyhood. Respect to Hugh and Michelle
He's not entire I know with looks and pedigree like that it seems a shame but we were deliberately looking for a mare or a gelding. Eventing can be testing for a young horse and with one stallion already on the circuit, we didn't think it would be fair to have two out competing at the same time. No matter how well behaved they are, there is always the added stress with a stallion and we wanted a young pure bred to have fun, not to be constantly picking up our tension. It's different with Harls - he's known us since birth.
So, "Gorjus" - already christened Gorgeous George - is now tucked up warmly next to Harley and opposite Heron. He's had an enormous wee, a long drink of water and he's tucking into his tea and having a good look around. He was absolutely brilliant going into his stable - he had to go through a massive puddle in the dark and he didn't bat an eyelid - looking good for cross country
Can't wait for tomorrow so we can play with him and get to know him better and introduce him to the others. Then he'll have a month or so chilling and getting his bearings before we start to pick up with his training!
Big smiles all round and glad he's here safe and sound.
Once again - thank you so much Team Phoenix - first for breeding this amazing young horse and secondly for letting him come to be with us. Oooh - just getting goosebumps at the thought of that tail flying high as he covers the ground.

Oh guys what can I say??!! It was an extremely hard decision for us to part with this young man, but it is a dream come true for me to think that we will be watching him event in the near future. Gorjus is an amazing athlete and incredible stamp of a horse, hopefully he will be flying the flag for pure breds, small breeders and home producers really soon!! Thank you to Rachelle, Evie and Steven for making the separation so much less painful with the en route texts and phone call as soon as you all arrived home I can breathe now!! Thank you also to everyone for the very kind comments about Phaaraoh as well as the 'old boy' Hugh I taught him everything he knows Michelle x

Rachelle, Evie and steven,
thanks so much for letting me know by email you are the new owners of Phaaraoh. I have admired him from a foal, such a wonderful boy. I think he has a great future ahead of him and will be an ambassador for the arabian breed. I believe he is 16.hh now, he is going to look stunning under saddle.
Being the owner of Aazari his sire, I look forward to following his career. How exciting it is going to be. Good luck to all.

First of all - we can't believe how well Gorjus George has settled! He's Mr Cool and he's already become part of the herd. He loves being bathed and groomed. He's inquisitive without being pushy, calm without being a wuss and just one of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet - and of course, so, so glamorous
When I originally posted, I said there would be other good news and I'm thrilled to bits to say that another new arrival joined us this week. Thank you so much to Laura and Sue (Mrs Vlacq) for letting us have the wonderful pure Anglo mare Vlacq Talanique, by their wonderful old boy Hipu Who (sadly no longer with us) out of the Shah Shadow mare, Lorindol. Tally is Sparky's niece so it's wonderful to keep a proven performance line going. That little dun man who started it all off for Evie now welcomes his niece as a brood mare.
Here she is - the wonderful and lovely - Vlacq Talanique (with her daughter Vlacq Hectique)
And just for those who may not rememer Sparky (Vlacq Tinwe), here he is taking the Junior Show Jumping Championship at the Nationals and then showing that he really did know how to be a "show horse" (but he hated it!!)
And here's a summary of our new arrivals due next year:
Sadly, no pure breds due next year but we do have one part bred, two pure Anglos and one pure Thoroughbred due
First the part bred. Evie's eventing pony Twist Hoeves Nancy (who is herself 40% Arab) was bred in Holland and won Sports Pony Gradings over there before coming to the UK to event. She has been confirmed in foal to Harley's sire, the son of the wonderful Imad, our very own, Last Crescendo. So:
and
This will be Nancy's first foal and the intention is that Evie will compete it when it's old enough. We're hoping it will mature around 15.0 - 15.2 (Cresh throws very large offspring despite being compact and bijou !!!!)
Now the pure Anglos:
First
Harley's sister, the ultra glamorous Templars Cultured Pearl (Silvern Sceptre x Templars Magic Pearl) is in foal to the TB stallion Calcutta. Molly, as she is known had a successful showing career as a youngster and she stands 15.3, bright, bright chestnut with a flaxen mane and tail.
I don't have a recent photo of Molly but here she is in the field (the one on the right hand side) with her dam, Templars Magic Pearl (Harley's dam), and her grand dam, Hadida Pearl.
and here's Calcutta - chosen for his stamina (he ran 101 times, covering over 100 miles and retired sound) and for his super temperament.
And last but by no means least - our Egyptian x Old English mare, Oakthwaite Shamtar is in foal to Harry's sire, Prince of Darkness
Here's Shammy with Evie a couple of years ago
and here is Prince of Darkness (POD to his friends)
We chose POD because we are so pleased with his offspring and Harry has such amazing talent that we wanted to see if we could re-create it and combine it with Arabian blood and enhance it a bit
This is what we're hoping will result - Harry (Autumn Dancer)
And here is our young pure Anglo gelding (Pip) Against All Odds by Djammal our of Lady of the Lamp (sister of Miners Frolic). We are very grateful to Tina Bennett who has agreed to take Pip and start his education for us. Watch our for him and Gorjus George next year!!!
The beautiful and talented Taragun sadly reabsorbed her foal and (as is the style of all prima donnas) demanding first class attention to help her with this all too bothersome task of baby making!!!! The vets love her to bits and we are all very hopeful that her age will not go against her. All plumbing working fine, she just doesn't like sex!!! |

Very exciting - shall look forward to next year's updates
Sorry about Taragun for next year, that is a shame. I agree about Prima Donna's though - they want to be sure just how many hoops you'll jump through... Holly was 17 with one ovary when she conceived for the first time - by AI because she doesn't do "that stuff" either.

Just looking through this thread, saw those photos and thought Crikey, it's Red, and then read on and realised it was his Auntie Talanique. What a family resemblance (Red's grandpas are Hipu Who and Shah Shadow, which makes Sparky his uncle as well if I remember correctly?) Sad to hear that Taragun is enjoying her life of leisure too much to be bothered with baby-making! |

Lovely boy, and I would love to see the Calcutta foal when it is born. Calcutta is a very athletic horse, no mediocrity at all, when he wanted to run he was unbeatable.... |

Thanks Jackiedo - must admit we fell in love with him and as well as our Anglo foal, he's also covered our TB mare and she's due next year as well so we'll have a Weatherbys registered TB - and really not bothered what gender it is!!!!! It was the soundness that really attracted us because we wanted an eventing sire and so we need good bones and tendons. Loads of TB stallions look good but retire to stud unsound :( |

So very sad to see people's good wishes and support for what turned out to be a nightmare for owners / loaners and death for horses. They (peels) must not spoil our trust in good folk as that would further the tragedy. My thoughts and support are with all who have suffered x

I don't think anyone was a "sucker" Garnet, they were totally plausible. I had a very lucky escape as I offered them one of my Hispano Arabe stallions to event, fortunately they didn't want to loan only buy and he has never been for sale, so thank god he is still here at home with me, I can't begin to imagine how everyone who has lost or doesn't know the fate of their horse's feels. |

Am I the only one to wonder where all the money came from to buy all these beautiful horses. And then to just let them die - beggars belief . I've had to work hard all my life and never been able to afford even one horse of such quality. |

Please, nobody should feel ashamed; peels in their time on AL and when dealing direct when something to gain very much clearly appeared plausible, knowledgeable and genuine people who would care for any animal. Sadly only with hindsight we know the opposite to be tragically true. All shame and blame falls firmly with peels. RSPCA were despicable however peels responsible for RSPCA being involved. Again all shame and blame is with peels

Tomos, perhaps I expressed myself badly. They lapped up our praise and admiration for their achievements while all the time something very different was going on that we could never have imagined. |
