Silvern Idyll was a lovely horse was a fantastic temperament - when going through Belvoir we always looked to see if he was out in his paddock by the road and if so we would stop for a chat. He never offered to even nibble, let alone bite, bless him - he was just very sociable!
Silvadoris was another great old horse - he worked sheep for a living when young, and in his later years lived in a stable he shared amicably with another stallion just off the cow byre at Des Williamson's farm at Selby. He sired some top-class performance stock - at one time, nearly all the JA jumping ponies in east Yorkshire were his stock! He was a big and very correct horse, typical of the best of Crabbet.
Indian Idyll is one of my faves - classic 100% Crabbet pedigree and a proven winning racehorse in his day too. Fantastic temperament - one of those you can 99.9% treat as if he wasn't a stallion at all. He's a good sire too of endurance athletes and ridden show horses too. Known as "Fred" to his friends!
