Hi Guys Yes i had a lot of entries on Saturday Morning and the dog went mad... safe to say that he did not get to many and everything is well. We are having a meeting early this week to discuss the show. We still need a few more to make sure it goes ahead.... if it does [please] then we will be taking entries on the day. Thanks to everyone for their support.... keep them coming! Donna

Hi everyone, firstly i would like to thank everyone who entered the SE Autumn show for this weekend, but unfortunatley after a committee meeting last night [a very late one] it was voted to be cancelled. We had to make the decision last night otherwise we would have more costs for cancellations. You have no idea how disappointed I am, but i know it was the right thing to do. Some classes had no entries and others only had one or two entries, so with this in mind we all voted. I will return all cheques and paperwork over the next few days, so by the end of week everyone will have there entries returned. Once again thank you for your support. Donna |

Hi Donna, thats such a shame. Perhaps the committees of SE Region and Wessex could look at combining their autumn shows for next year as the regions arent that far apart and could perhaps find a venue central to all?
Thank you for your efforts though and I look forward to getting out and about to the winter clinics with the se region |

Just want to say thank you Donna for trying. Such a shame its had to be cancelled for the second year running, maybe Nuts idea for combining the two groups autumn show would be a good idea? The south east one offered more classes then the wessex eg splitting the age groups into seperate sexes as well, looked at the schedule today and saw its just 2 & 3yr olds all together not split colt/gelding and fillies. Thank you again though |

Hi combining both Wessex an SE was mentioned, last year when we cancelled, but I wanted to try again this year i thought it was a blip, however i believe it is a sign of the times. I had a lovely email today from someone who entered and she has had 4 shows cancelled on her, so we are not alone. Costs are increasing for keeping horses and unfortunatley wages are not! Everyone is now 'watching the pennies' and quite right. I believe we are not through it yet, next year might still be the same if not slight worse. i am totally despressed about the show, and telling everyone is the worst feeling. Thanks guys for all your efforts. |

me again can i make another suggestion...if running group shows isnt finacially viable due to dwindling entries then rather than have 3 a year because its traditionally whats happened, why not help support existing shows within the region such as County Shows by supplying judges, rossettes and sponsorship, you have no running costs of the show and the wider public will see more quality exhibits on display and make the regional groups job more about promotion, education, exporing other disciplines than showing, winter training clinics and possibly 1 group show a year etc.
Just a thought but might be time for the groups to look at ways to diversify before they dwindle out too. |

Some good suggestions Nut Thanks for trying Dilly, I'm very disappointed that the show had to be cancelled again and worried the that the Wessex might go the same way. I had to miss the last 2 shows I'd entered due to transport problems and I wasn't ready for the season to end yet Please everyone get your Wessex entries in the post. |

Really sorry about this cancellation. We really need this show as there are few in the South run by Arab groups.
Wessex is running at the moment as long as we won't lose more by running it than we would by cancelling. Crofton demand a 50% non returnable deposit so we lose a lot if we cancel.

So sorry it's been cancelled! Just a thought Donna, but maybe you could just run a ridden show next year at a cheaper venue (like Hilders where you held dressage before)? I know parking is limited, but if there were set class times it could work? |

very good idea Nut something has to be done - as others say I really dont think there are enough shows in the south to be honestand to lose our regional group shows is terrible - working together is beneficial for everyone.. |
