Just wondering .... in the future, I'd love to breed from my purebred (for me - not to sell) BUT just looking at different breeds to maybe cross her with ... any suggestions??

I have bred a lovely filly this year she is a Arab cross Trakehner and having seen a few of them they do make a fab cross, it all depends what you are looking to breed of course and what you would like to compete in with your new foal.I woul;d put pics on but having tried a few times i have now fallen out with Flickr sorry. Good luck in your choice. |

This is my arab x quarter horse (the sire is QH, mare is arab)
She's a lovely build being a teeny bit stockier than an arab.
Although I love her to bits, she has been very slow to mature (she is still a baby at seven). She loves jumping but I think she is definitely not a natural.
However she will go on for ever and ever if she's in the mood and can go very fast. I haven't dared take her to her top speed yet!
It all depends really on what you would want your foal for |

The Spanish/Arab cross is very saleable - an important consideration these days!

Thoroughbred for me.
Sadly our Anglo-Arabs are so rare now, they are like 'hens teeth' as Mrs Vlacq put it! |

Littlearabians your foals are gorgeous I could take one home I also like the Arab x QH but I would like a Arab x Oldenburg or a similar warmblood type the Hanoverian are a lovely type to, must say though I like most of the Arab crosses that I have seen. Alcoboy have a look on the internet they do exist. |

I agree with moatside, all my performance line have welsh D blood, it is such a fabulous cross. Here is a picture of Elmdale Enthusiast (full brother to Elmdale extrovert)
Hopefully there is a new kid on the block Elmdale exhibitionist who is also full brother to both above has just been broken.
