Just a quick update on Merlyn! I've not done a huge amount with him this year, just taking things slowly with him. I backed him late on last year and then left him over the Winter and then started on him again in Arpril. He's been out In Hand once and other than that, we've just been pottering about at home.
He is a bright lad and really starting to enjoy his riding. He is hacking out (with a friend) and his schooling is improving. He is going through a "I don't want to stretch down for my bit" stage, but I'm in no hurray to have this and I know he'll do it when he is ready. He is such a wonderful little horse and tries so hard to please. He really is the most laid back and dare I say it, laziest arab I've ever ridden!! Long may that continue!

Thanks guys. I love him dearly and he's the type that if you've had a crap day, he'll bring a smile to your face and cheer you up! He turned 5 in May and it has taken this long for him to mature enough to ride. I see a big difference in him this year...........perhaps having to babysit has made him grow up a bit!
Jill that is one of Plas Equestrian's bridles, and you are right, it really is his colour. Might have to see if I can get an In Hand bridle in that colour way for him. |

Hi, my bridle and reins came from Plas Equestrian. They have a website and make all sorts! They have a brilliant colour selection to choose from and lots of different styles of both webbing and leather bridles. I've also got a love bridle in purple, aqua and silver that looks great on a grey but a bit girlie!! |

His looking great well done Arabi was very chilled when I first backed him and on the point of being lazy his better now though, I think getting them out on hacks helps keeps them interested and gets them going forward. |

He's improving on his hacks all the time, although yesterday he was Mr Snorty!! He is great at slaming on the breaks suddenly too, which isn't so funny when you are cantering along and come to a grinding halt with no warning!! On the plus side I am developing a fairly balanced seat as a result .
He used to go so far (even with company) and then stop, plant his feet and decide he'd gone far enough! Even when his companion disappeared out of sight round the corner, he would just stand there and then after 3 or 4 minutes would sigh and decide to wander on! He really cracks me up a times |
