It sounds to me like so called pagan activity(sorry to genuine pagans) with the plaits and tail cut and such like. I know people near me in lincolnshire who have problems with them

Yup, people buying it. Cheaper alternative to beef. I'm afraid this takes off with the current penny pinching times.

Although my horses are marked and microchipped and I do have a sign saying so, I haven't put it up for fear it actually attracts attention to them. I also really have to question how effective either a freezemark or microchip is other than identifying them if found. But if they are being stolen and taken to an abattoir who asks no questions. So scary.
