Hi Zia, many thanks for that, I couldn't agree more. My Mum is very seriously ill at the moment so missed it this year. I'm delighted that Cacharels grandson won the youngstock, congratulations to Theresa and Alan, and everyone else who took part

Mandy that is one seriously good colt, I loved him when I saw him a month ago. I really hope they keep him entire and get him out ridden in due course. I want to support him at HOYS

Lovely to see regular friends and to meet some of you I hadn't met before - so glad you enjoyed our championships. Thought I'd share some photo moments! EDITED TO REPAIR PHOTO INSERT SINCE FLICKR UPDATE
Last but not least, a stallion who didn't make it to the Crabbet ring but flew the flag for us in the ridden section this year - Reserve National Champion Ridden Stallion was Silvern Prince, 100% Crabbet.
Thanks to all of you who brought horses or came to watch and support the right kind of showing. |

| We had a fantastic time, we didn't win but it was great to be there and support the Crabbet classes, hope to be back next year with a youngster if/when qualified! Lovely horses, beautifully shown, proud to be a part of it all! Congratulations to the winners. |

Crabbet classes were a joy to watch. The champion Maiad is stunning.
Silvern Prince was gorgeous in the ridden championship and did so well.
Astrologer looked tip top.
Thanks to all who made the Crabbet ring so popular this year, we'll need a little stand for spectators next year!! |

| Regarding qualifying everyone, not all of you seem to have realised that at the moment, once qualified always qualified! Some people have enquired about re-qualifying for the Crabbet CH next year but, as things stand, that is not necessary. We may eventually put a five year limit on or something but, for now, if your horse has qualified for the Crabbet CH, you can bring them back year after year - not that I want to put you off supporting your Crabbet Classes of course! |

| Munchie, I would say take her into the class she is eligible for. I put my gelding, Al Rakka into the class for 4yr and over geldings. At 23 he was 12 years older than the next eldest. He was placed 3rd to the lovely Astrologer and Zinjadi. I was thrilled with his place, and I would say that the more people who enter their "oldies" the more chance there is of them having their own class. Go for it!! |

Have to admit that Al Rakka is one of my personal favourites - have enjoyed seeing him from a 2 year old colt all those years ago onwards.
The Malvern classes are not "classes" at all of course but Championships. All the horses have qualified to be there and it is noticeable that there is no tail end in the ring - I think everyone has their favourites and it is wonderful to see them all. Winning is lovely for the winner of course but I think it is also a wonderful parade of the best of Crabbet.
Please keep bringing your lovely horses - oldies and youngies! |

thanks for posting the pics they all look like the winners that they are
also noticed a healthy crowd in the background,
even on the main ring side seemed to be looking at the crabbets 
one numpty question re qulification
I did look on the Crabbet org website but again numpty here couldn't find any info 
but what is the actual criteria when it comes to ridden horses as there is no ridden crabbet classes at the cahmpionships
does a ridden Crabbet qualify to go into the inhand section ??

 Just had to add....Silvern Moonlight [Silvern Sceptre x PHA Silver Heart]was also Res National Champion Mare this year! And her full older sister, Silvern Starlight was Champion Restricted Ridden Arabian....only her third show under saddle, both ably piloted by Stephanie Turner!! ...'Star' was also third in her dressage class with her ''senior'' amateur owner, Mary o 'Rourke, who is still grinning like a Cheshire Cat...she had so many rosettes and trophies and sashes we were buried under them!!Well done Mary and her lovely girls! PS.. Their dam is in foal to Daas for Jane next year, she is twenty!! That baby should be a fab potential performance Arabian too!! |

Not a numpty question at all as I was looking on our website just today and couldn't find the list of all qualified horses that I know is on there! Lindsay does her best with us but we are not very website literate, not good at keeping her up to date with info and the site is not the most user friendly on the planet when it comes to finding things ..... we are working on it.
Anyway, a Crabbet Arabian does have to qualify in hand for our Championships at Malvern.
Ridden Crabbet Classes are being run by a few Regional Groups but not currently enough to generate qualifiers for a Ridden Crabbet Championship at the Nationals alongside the in hand Championship. It is under constant review but the concern is that the best Crabbet ridden horses hold their own very happily in the main ridden classes so there is not the same need. Suggestions on this are very welcome and we do keep revisiting it. |

Thanks tomos and sonflowerinwales who PM'd me the welsh crabbet show as a suggestion 
Just checked, it would be 203 miles and I still haven't applied for a crabbet certificate (wanted to make sure I'd be able to get her to some crabbet comps before applying! ), previous owner worked it out but she's never had the certificate. Hmm think it could be too tall an order, never say never though! 
EDIT: Cobblers she's 17 and the min age is 18! Ah well next year, maybe I can find a relation by then for the pairs class? Or should I just do novice ridden and the dressage and even the normal in hand just to go admire pretty crabbety numbers????? |

Soooooooo Refreshing the Crabbet classes. Full manes, No Panda eyes No spinning, natural stance, no whips, just show canes and beautiful Arabian Horses floating effortlessly over the ground.....awesome

It really is the way it should be Babs isn't it. I found all the shrieks and banging and whooping really too much this year, despite the fact that there were fewer folk around. It really is a rent a mob situation now, and I feel myself starting to think I will not be going in future. Since I have being going since 1973 when it was held in Peterborough and Have only missed twice in all those years(apart from the Foot and Mouth and flood years) it will be a somewhat reluctant decision. Each year I tell myself it WILL get better, but sadly there is no sign of it. However, there is always light at the end of the tunnel, the Crabbet classes are doing tremendous good and many people are seeing for the first time how it really should be done, AND are liking what they see, sensible horses, beautifully shown, and an appreciative audience at the right time. Well done to all the people involved
Athena, thank you so much for the lovely comments about my boy Al Rakka. I love this boy to bits and would dearly have loved him to win the veteran class this year. He has now been 2nd three times bless him, and I fear that his best chances are behind him now. But his 3rd in the Crabbet championships where the TRUE showing goes off(!) was thrilling for me. I hate that he is getting old and that this was probably his last Malvern, but the years are starting to catch up with him sadly. |

Oh I do hope you keep bringing Al Rakka Annette - he may look a little older than he did but ask him to move and he puts so many younger horses to shame still.
He really deserves to have been a winner both of the Veterans and at the Crabbet Shows and Championships - he's definitely been a bit unlucky. Not that I am trying to take anything away from the lovely horses who have won. But I'm sure I won't be the only person who will miss him if he is not there. |

Well maybe we could manage just once more, before we both get too long in the tooth . It's lovely to know that he has a bit of a fan club and yes, although I am a little bit biased(!) I think he has been very unlucky not to have got that elusive red ribbon. To me, he is just about the most perfect little horse I could ever have hoped to have and he is such a HUGE character My thanks go to Gill and Brenda Talbot, who were both there at Malvern to cheer him on, for allowing me to have their precious boy.
