Rode my mare tonight. I was having quite an unpleasant time - we were both been eaten alive by the flies, and she was not a happy bunny!!
Much head twirling and trying to jog (which is not one of her habits), but I couldn't really blame her, the flies were truly horrendous.
And, to cap it all, we rounded a corner and found a loose horse!
Which came over at 90mph and stopped with its nose on her bum!
She stopped dead (a sort of "excuse me!!!!! what do you think you're DOING???????).
For a horrible moment I thought I might have company on the way back to the yard, but it heard someone (presumably the owner) in the other direction and took off back the way it had come.

And then.......... I had about 500yds of passage - it was the most fabulous thing to ride!!!
OMG - sometimes I wish I knew how to get her to do it on request.
But, unfortunately, I don't

AMAZING feeling isn't it... Bryn loves to passage , but as you say a lot easier to acheive when they are 'in the mood' than 'in the school'
Cheers

Yes, truly amazing.
She also does what I call her pogo imitation sometimes.

Massive trot - goes nowhere LOL.

Usually when showing off!

What IS that called??

Not a dressage buff. Can you tell??

my mare bramble and gelding taran does double massive floating trot that is so comfy and fab feeling especially on the beach and endurance rides!

Taran forever does that in the field when he is playing as always does fab double trot floating naturally in the air which left any visitors gobsmack as just so beautiful to watch him do it every time! must take video of him do it one day!

Arabi loves a passage when he gets excited, he feels about a hand bigger when he does it too, my instructor taught her Warmblood gelding to passage last year and he looked amazing and seemed to do it with ease, she said its not as difficult as most people think most teach it from the ground first.

passage os lovely, i started teaching gizzy the passage start of this year, you really need them underneath them selfs and working well before asking for it and basically close the hands and legs and use the schooling stick as an aid and this is how i get gizzy to do it even if a few strides its a start lol. we were laughing at ros the other day when he was getting his bath he was standing there doing the pieffe for about five mins lol.

my boy loves to passage and piaffe he uses it as an exscuse when he gets bored with his schooling. Although hacked him out and he passaged all the way round the field which is about 5 acres. great for building strength ..... I agree though it is a joy to ride
