We have been so lucky with our crop this year. The grass was cut on Tuesday & we baled it today with not a drop of rain on it! Panicky a bit last night as there was a thunderstorm on the horizon but luckily it went out to sea rather than inland. Phew! Our contractor thinks hay will be scarce this year as even though the weather is good, it has been so dry that the crops are so light. So this afternoon while me & Arthur were doing all the work:
michelle had a great time! 1st on rosie:
then on just-backed Bertie who thought it was great fun!:
Good luck to every else with their hay edited to add: just noticed that on the bottom pic. you can just see Whitby Abbey on the horizon!
lovely picse and i see michelle has her priorities right. My friend does silage and he left an extra two acres and got about the same just short of last years so crops down at least a 1/4 this year. we just had 100 bales delivered last night and in the shed.
Mine was cut on Saturday early eve. It is amazingly dry already, really crispy I shall, of course, be stressing until my contractor comes and bales it. Every year I say "I'm never humping all those flipping heavy bales about again.....but then do!"
