Not sure if I can post this on here or if it counts as advertising, but I am wondering if there is anyone in/near Shropshire who would handle my stallion to cover one of my mares in hand? Not only can I not do it on my own, I'm far too much of a wuss to try! I did try turning one of the mares out with him, as another of my mares has been running with him for a month or so with no problems, but it didn't work out and I didn't want one of them injured.

Is stallion handling in this respect something I can find someone to do (obviously for a fee)? Anyone going to volunteer?! The stallion - Shambar - is a darling and generally is no problem to handle but I don't know enough to handle him for covering.

I'll give you a hand depending on when. Do you have hobbles for the mare? And a pen or arena/menage incase of problems? I am in staffs so quite a way from you but if you do get stuck give me a shout.

No idea where you are in Shrops but it could be worth speaking to Mickley Stud or Bearstone stud to see if a memeber of their staff could help you in the evenings?

Both are near Market Drayton.

Great, thanks

I don't have hobbles, I've never had any of mine hobbled to be covered. We do have access to an outdoor school near the yard. I'm south of Shrewsbury and there doesn't appear to be anyone near here who breeds - don't know the Market Drayton ones but have a friend up that way who could put me in touch if needed.

Will reply to PM now, too.

You could try Karen & Richard Carr, who post on here from Glebe Farm.

You will find a link to them from my web site

He chased her - not helped by my older mare being jealous and chasing her too. He's being a complete darling with my older mare - probably because she's a bossier sort and doesn't stand any trouble from anyone. Fingers crossed my older mare has got in foal OK now, this foal (and Shef's if she does get in foal) are for keeping regardless of their sex.

Thanks for the suggestions, I think we're sorted now but will keep the TB stud contacts for future reference too

NatH, it's just clicked who Karen and Richard Carr are. They're not far from my yard at all, but I've never yet got round to visiting. I will have to give them a call and go to see their horses - they're probably less than 20 miles from my yard.
