Hi All,
Arabian racing at Huntingdon this Sat 29th May, some very competitive handicaps and the maiden looks very hot, should be some great races.
Good luck all with runners, hopefully my homebred mare Sky will make her seasonal debut, this is her last season racing as the breeding paddocks beckon for 2011 and I would love her to finally lose her bridesmaid tag.

Huntingdon 29th May
Race 1:- Maiden over 6 Furlongs: A very hot maiden with fourteen entries lined up from leading stables including HH Sheikh Hamdan and the Royal Cavalry of Oman. The selection is Jaady from the all powerful stable of Gill Duffield, an impressive 2nd to Altobello in the Group 2 Juvenile race on Dubai Day last year before disappointing behind stablemate Hattef at Salisbury and is sure to be stronger this year and can take this en route to better events. Main dangers comes from the Royal Cavalry of Oman’s well bred runner Ahasen, a half brother to Al Fairooz who was placed in all his maidens last season. Whilst Ambrose has been steadily improving and has been placed numerous times at this level and was 2nd over 6 and 7 furlongs last term and should go close.
Race 2:- Handicap 0-60 over 1 Mile 6 Furlongs: Bonham looks capable of taking this event for the in form Delyth Thomas yard, he won over two miles at Wolverhampton last season and will stay every yard of this trip and is the one to beat. Dangers come from consistent stayer Notid who won over 2 miles last season at Hereford and will relish the track and trip. Whilst Hayleys Comet proved time was no obstacle when winning the Jebel Ali Silver last season over 10 furlongs from Wikkara and should be fighting out the finish.
Race 3:- Handicap 0-100 over 1 Mile 2 Furlongs: An ultra competitive handicap and the selection is recent impressive 8 furlong Wolverhampton winner Genuinely At Risk who is likely to start off warm favourite and has every chance of landing his second win in as many runs, he won at twice last season over this trip and impressively on his final start at Warwick over 10f beating Breeders Cup victor Tidarbret. Main opponents come from the Duffield runner Seaukoa who looked smart when winning 9 furlongs at Wolverhampton and will be stronger and sharper this time. Whilst the Royal Cavalry of Oman’s Quorman Des Vialettes is a classy horse and was placed twice last term including when 2nd over this trip at Taunton.
Race 4:- Handicap 0-85 over 6 Furlongs: A decent field line up for this Royal Cavalry of Oman Series Qualifier, and the selection is Manaal who was a decent 2nd over 8 furlongs at Market Rasen last season and an impressive 3rd to Joybell over 7 furlongs on 1st May, her half brother Madid won twice over this trip and she gets a handy 7lb pull from top weight and can make it count to lose her maiden tag. Dangers come from Yaqoot who won her maiden over 10 furlongs at Fontwell last season and was 2nd over 8 furlongs, step down in trip an unknown but goes well fresh and rates a danger here for the in form Bill Smith yard. The Royal Cavalry of Oman runs the smart recruit Wathiq who was placed three times last season including when 2nd over 8 furlongs and should take a hand in the finish.
Race 5:- OPEN Handicap (TB’s and AA’s) over 1 Mile 6 Furlongs: Son of Sophie is taken to confirm his superiority over this field, he will stay this trip with ease and won over 1 Mile 4 furlongs at Wolverhampton at the start of the month and won at this track last term over 10f at Huntingdon. Jayed should give him most to do and was third to selection at Wolverhampton, he also won first time out last season at Taunton over this 1 Mile 4 furlongs. Reminscent makes his seasonal debut and should make his presence felt, he won over 1 Mile 4 furlongs at Hereford last season and has solid place claims.
Race 6:- Handicap 0-50 over 7 Furlongs: Florys Folly looked very impressive when winning over 9 furlongs at Wolverhampton for the Thomas yard (beating Lile D’Amour, Millenium Leap and Lady Marisha), she is taken to confirm her superiority here. Dangers come from Trip to Khairo who won over course and distance last season, and Egypt who can never be discounted in these races and won over 6 furlongs at Stratford last season and rates a big danger.
Race 7:- Handicap 0-70 over 7 Furlongs: A weak handicap with the majority of the field not suited by this trip, that said the selection is the ever consistent Floren who goes well fresh and won twice last season over 12 and 14 furlongs but has won over 8 furlongs at Stratford, he goes well fresh and can make this seasons debut a winning one. Dangers come from Dargali who is half brother to top performers Prince Dormant and Breeders Cup winner Tidarbret, he was 5th in a Group 2 over this trip last season and will be sharper and stronger this term. Whilst Roches Du Cayrou has won over this course and distance in the past and won over 1 Mile 4 furlongs last term and has place claims.
Race 8:- OPEN Handicap (AA & TBs) 0-160 over 7 Furlongs: An open looking race and the tentative selection is Kitchen Sink who was a decent 2nd over 6 furlongs at this track last term and should be able to lose his ARO maiden tag here. Whilst Mandy’s Maestro has some useful bits of form last season and wasn’t disgraced here last term when 5th, but looked better when 3rd over 9 furlongs at Hereford. Mattoni may spring a surprise after a decent 2nd over 8 furlongs last season at Stratford and has strong place claims.

Good luck with Sky Paul if she goes and any one else with runners. Sadly no runners till Fakenham 27th June for me unless we take some to Wolves for a racecourse gallop. |

Hi All,
Thank you all for your kind wishes and I shall pass them on to Sky. We only decided to dec this morning as she hasn't been working well and I do not have any high hopes for Saturday, still she has to run somewhere and this is the only really suitable race before Dubai Day. I would caution against backing her though.
The selections are:-
1st race = Jaady to win/Ambrose for a place
2nd race = Notid to win/Hayleys Comet for a place
3rd race = Seaukoa to win/ Moshahed for a place
4th race = Manaal to win/ Taakamul for a place
5th race = Son of Sophie to win/Reminscent for a place
6th race= Trip To Khairo to win/ Florys Folly for a place
7th race = Dargali to win/ Floren for a place
8th race = Kitchen Sink to win/ Mandys Meastro for a place
Adam/Linda - good luck with your horses this weekend especially Khan (his big sister has just been scanned in foal to Dahess which I am rather thrilled about). I was quite surprised not to see Pinkie, Leopard and Debbie in Sky's race (although confess a little relieved). Catch up at Wolverhampton if you go, I think my homebred Sammy might be running!!!
Adam/Moosie - thanks for pm will reply on Sunday as Sat will be a loooong day.
Happy punting all,
Paul |

Hi Paul have sent you a pm as to why they don't run, good luck . I think Sabden will go close in second and florys folly in the sixth if she goes on the ground should easily win again after being dropped to get into race. The 7th Flash cat should win easily also. |

Huntingdon 29th May
Review
The Racing Enterprises Maiden Stakes over 6 Furlongs: A shock result here as the un-fancied 12/1 Duffield runner and HH Shiekh Hamdan owned Ashwaaq (Al Sakbe x Bisbille) showed the field a clear pair of heels under a superb ride from the talented jockey Oliver Garner, always travelling well she was sent to the front inside the home straight and under a determined ride from Garner held on well by a length from fast finishing stablemate Jaady. Speaking afterwards winning trainer Gill Duffield said “She’s been working very green at home so this is a bit of a surprise, although her dam won over 5 furlongs and was half sister to champion sprinter Vert Olive”. Back in second was the smart colt Jaady (Prince D’Orient x Alharir) who was always handy and disputed the lead before the straight before making his effort inside the final two furlongs and made the winner work hard for her win. Whilst Beverley Deutrom (FKA Paterson) unleashed a smart colt in Maghazi (Chndaka x Nirva De Cardonne) back in third, always handy he came with his run inside the home straight and whilst always being held by the first two was safely clear of the field and is one to watch.
The Royal Cavalry of Oman Handicap Novice Rider Stakes 0-60 over 1 Mile 6 Furlongs: Another surprise win here from the Carl Kester owned and trained 8/1 shot Sabden (Bengali D’Albret x Sambella) who was superbly ridden by Kelly Mellor, she was rallying for the lead inside the final two furlongs with the hard ridden Hayleys Comet, and as these two fought out the finish inside the final furlong they were head to head all the way to the line with Sabden just holding on by a nose from a gallant Hayleys Comet (Nevesti x Kapilia). The latter lost nothing in defeat and was arguably a shade unlucky on the day and should be winning again soon. Whilst Bonham ran a solid race on his seasonal and was staying on dourly in the closing stages and is one for the short list next time out.
The Oliver Cromwell Handicap Stakes 0-100 over 1 Mile 2 Furlongs: The Royal Cavalry of Oman’s Hajes set a decent pace from the off with stablemate Mudalal close up and Moshahed and Tidarbret all handy. As they entered the final two furlongs Steve Harrison unleashed a devastating run on the Middleton Stud’s smart Breeders Cup winner Tidarbret (Bengali D’Albret x Iktidar) who kicked clear to win in the final furlong coming home three lengths too good for the Royal Cavalry of Oman’s Mudalal (Darike x Rawabi). The last named ran an impressive race on his season debut in the UK and ran on strongly in the closing stages chasing hard but always being held, but a easy four lengths clear of third. Moshahed (Chndaka x Nirva De Cardonne) was hard ridden in the home straight but to his credit fought hard to claw back third from Hajes in the final furlong to snatch third.
The Royal Cavalry of Oman Handicap Stakes 0-85 over 6 Furlongs: Another impressive winner from the powerful Duffield stable as Martin Smith rode a well judged race on HH Sheikh Hamdan’s smart filly Manaal (Djendel x Kahina El Kihm), she was always well placed and showed a smart turn of foot inside the final furlong when challenged by stablemate Takaamul to win by just under a length. Takaamul (Djebbel x Valina Des Fabries) ran another sound race back in second and tried to catch the winner but was always just being held, he remains a smart prospect. Whilst the Royal Cavalry of Oman’s Wathiq (Nenuphar Al Maury x Tawam) led the field into the straight and rallied hard under pressure but couldn’t lay up with the first two, he stayed on well and could be interesting if upped in trip.
The Pepys Handicap Stakes 0-50 over 7 Furlongs: Odds on favourite Florys Folly ran no sort of race here seemingly never travelling or in contention, but Millenium Leap (Khairouan x Balla Star) jumped straight into the lead at the start under a superb ride from Tom Garner and she showed the field a clean set of heels inside the final furlong to win nicely at the line for her delighted owner/trainer Mark Cooper. Commenting after the race Cooper said “I was confident she was right today she was spot on and Tom rode a great race, he did exactly as he was told which is rare in a jockey”. Back in second was an eye catching run from the David Paton trained Senor Dublcheck (Bengali D’Albret x Mais), always in contention he made his move inside the home straight and ran well under pressure inside the final furlong and will be interesting over further. Another four lengths back in third was Caroline De Wilde owned/trained and ridden Egypt (Marawan x Sareefa) who was always up with the pace and made her move inside the third final but was always going to settle for a minor place.
The Shaw & Fox Handicap Stakes 0-70 over 7 Furlongs: They didn’t hang about here with confirmed front runners Floren and Sakeena Sky Zayin taking each other on for the lead from the start ensuring a decent pace, as they entered the home straight the leaders started to struggle whilst the young guns Flashcat and Dargali started to make their move. As they hit the final furlong Dargali took the lead with Flashcat chasing in his slipstream, but in the end Dargali (Bengali D’Albret x Iktidar) under a well timed confident ride from Vicky Clarke won by cosy half a length for owner/breeders James and Jo Kippen and trainer Dennis Batteate; this colt looks smart and is one to remember for Dubai Day. Speaking afterwards Jo Kippen said “We’ve no big plans for him but are pleased with that win and his full brother Tidarbret’s victory as well, it shows the stud is breeding decent race winners and the dam has just had a filly by Munjiz as well”. Flashcat (Concord x Edjalie) has strengthened up over the winter and ran a competitive race making the winner pull out all the stops for victory, his turn shouldn’t be far away. Whilst the ever consistent Floren (Bengali D’Albret x Florys De Nautiac) stayed on well in the final furlong to take third and will appreciate a stiffer test of stamina next time out.
Excellent racing and excellent finishes proving the handicapper has got the marks just right in my opinion. Sadly Sky ran poorly again although this she claims was because she thought the race was 6 furlongs not 7 apparently, although I think its because she got a bit tired and couldn't really be bothered. Retirement possibly beckons after Dubai Day of course!

Forgot to say 3 out of 8 winners tipped by me, not bad if I say so. Really pleased for the Kippen's with their homebred colts Tidarbret and Dargali winning, they been breeding and racing for years and its great to see small UK breeders winning against the bigger yards. |

Excellent results for the Kippens, dedicated and lovely people...bred my "diva" dontchaknow.....pity she didn't realise it was for the racecourse!!
Paul, thanks for the review, much appreciated. Still stand by my comments on Manaal though so we'll just have to agree to differ on that one!
