I turned one of my horses away over the winter so removed his shoes in September. I plan to ride him only lightly over the summer, probably 3/4 times a week, hacking for up to 2 hrs and probably one session in the school. He is comfortable in the school and on soft ground, but feels it on stony tracks. Rather than put his shoes back on, and deal with his hooves getting dry and crumbly, I would rather keep him unshod. Can anyone recommend hoof boots? He has quite neat hooves, but his has three white legs and very sensitive skin so I worry about potential rubbing.
Have googled Old Macs, Cavallo, Easy boots, Epics, Boas and am bamboozled!

It really depends on the size and shape of his feet. I always recommend Easyboot Gloves above anything else as they are very quick and simple to put on, stay put whatever speed or terrain you're covering and are much less bulky than the Old Macs, Cavallos and Boas (I'd only recommend those for horses with feet too big for any of the Easyboot range). As well as the Gloves Easyboot do Edges, Bares and Epics - all three are excellent.

I did 20 miles in a set of Easyboot Gloves yesterday on a horse with four white legs - no rubbing at all . I do get a bit of rubbing with the Gloves on my other horse but only when competing at distances 20 miles or over I(which we cover at speed). Hacking him at home I don't have any rubbing problems at all.

No advice re boots but Keratex is good for hardening off the feet in this situation or at least it worked for mine.
