Bless him - what a fantastic example of a boy who's relaxed and enjoying his first days as a riding horse. YOu should be proud of him!
How many people would be happy to ride their Arab bareback and without a bit for the first months??
Well done you and Ruwi!! |

Linda, i always wish i lived closer to you!
Meggie-Lu, did you say your horse is blind? He must have lots of confidence in you when you lunge him, i bet he would love to be led out off your other horse

your vid brought a tear to my eye, beautiful Baz is back to square one due to the time he had off with his kicked leg and the stress of moving yards. Starting to lunge again and get him tuned into voice aids, hope to be where we left off June ish see how it goes? |

He's lovely. Nice to see I'm not the only person who backs bareback first, too! |

One of Merlin's feild mates is blind and deaf! It's a challenge, but he loves Merlin and follows him round. Here is a picture of him. His name is Pudsey after the children in need bear!
His mum was arab xtb cross and his daddy was welsh section d, but hes come out very fine more like a tb! I will get sm vid of me lunging him. |

He looks lovely Michelle, I'm so pleased for you!
That's just how I backed Jack, bareback and in a headcollar then rope halter. That's also how I first hacked him out - we used to go for walks in hand, and on some off road sections I'd just get on.
More naiveity in my case I think though, he's the first horse I've backed and was so easy |

Pudsy is so sweet you would never guess he was deaf and blind - bless him
Angel and Fee, look forward to seeing how you get on - roll on spring!
Karon and Kelly, yes bareback does feel a better way to do it, i feel closer to him and feel safer that i can just slip off if i need to. Saying that my seat isnt that good so its only a matter of time before we part |

Ah well done Michelle!
He looks so chilled and relaxed
We lightly backed our young mare Shanikwa last summer when she was 3 - she will be 4 this spring. My daughter has done all the work herself and I am so proud of her, being only 15 years old. She was brought back into work just 6 weeks ago and we are very pleased with her progress so far.

I have always loved your boy Michelle (his mum's not far from here with the lovely leia. I'm hoping to get over there at some point to have a cuddle!), he is such a credit to you. He's had such an amazing start to life and always looks so wonderfully relaxed and happy. Well done you, and gorgeous Ruwi xxx |

That is so lovely! Such an antidote to all the "horrid stuff" like rolkur and draw reins and general bullying that goes on for some horses. Your horse is very blessed to have such a calm, cheerful and competant owner. Well done! He is very handsome as well, but I expect you agree already! |
