Fall asleep at the table after dinner, go to bed...8.30, 9, 9.30...10 is a late night! Fall asleep as soon as head hits pillow. Wake at midnight....then pretty much on the hour every hour! Wide awake at 4, up at 6,30. Try to lie in on day off....always awake though! If I get very tipsy, may get lucky and sleep through til 4! Rarely oversleep. Have loads of energy at work, as usually very busy, running around all day, as soon as I relax, thats it feel exhausted! As a teenager used to sleep til 2pm at least...oh what happy memories |

My ideal is 8 to 9 hours - but in the winter I rarely get this; I still get about 7.5 hours but my eyes feel gritty and I could go to sleep standing up sometimes! I sleep very deeply and well, it's just the early rises for morning stables that get me!

I'm always tired and never get enough sleep as I sleep so badly. I never go to bed before midnight and then can't get to sleep no matter how tired I am. I then feel exhausted in the morning and could lie in until 10am easily but can't of course.
Feel like death around about 6pm but then very irritatingly wake up again around 10pm so no point in going to bed early. Drives me nuts, I so envy people who just sleep normally...

I don't have much trouble falling asleep. My problem is staying asleep. I get on average 4 to 5 hours a night and that is with at least one waking episode in between. Given the opportunity I would easily take an afternoon nap everyday. Around 2 to 3 pm I get very tired and then I perk up again.
I used to try to sleep more but I have given up. There is no point in laying in bed fighting it, I suggest turning the radio on and listening to talking (not music) or turning on the BBC 24hr news (this is what I do). I also read A LOT!!! Unfortunately for me reading does not make me sleepy like it does for a lot of people.
I truly believe you are better off getting up then laying there tossing and turning. Take a hot shower, or a bath, cliche as it sounds make a milky drink, even surf for a bit........ then go back to bed.
Strangely I don't seem to have any trouble snoozing on the sofa when I get home from the yard! |

Never enough! I am a morning person, despite it being hard to raise myself out of my pit, but once i'm up i'm usually glad of it! In summer i don't need much sleep at all, in winter i feel constantly exhausted and could sleep forever! I go through periods of sleeping quite well, and periods of really disrupted sleep. I literally daydream of sleep! Ros

I definitely need more than I get but perversely when I have the opportunity to go to bed early I don't seem to be able to take it. I go to be about 11pm but sometimes read, then I am up at 6am normally. Then probably half the week I wake in the night for one reason or another. But the other half works away two nights a week so I should be able to go to bed early, but then I end up trying to do stuff so it just doesn't happoen - before you know it is late. The other half on the other hand doesn't seem to need much and stays up til all hours of the morning watching TV or listening to music. B |

My boyf is a terrible sleeper - he has trouble getting off to sleep and will often wake-up several times and is always awake before me in the mornings
I on the other hand can sleep anywhere (yes literally) and anytime!!! I am best on about 8 hours, but as long as I get 6+ i'm usually ok and just top it up with afternoon naps at the weekend It sounds great, but I can't lie-in, especially if there are ponies to do and find when i'm on holiday I sleep about 20 hours! No joke - winds my boyf up no end because if I lay down on the sunbed, that's it, i'm gone for the day |

Im awful when it comes to sleep I can sleep at ANY time during the day, 10am, 1pm, 3pm, 6pm but when it gets to my actual bedtime 10pm ish i cant sleep until 1am ish... then wake at about 8am. and sleep inbetween my 5mins snoozes!! I hardly stir (knowingly) but my boyf says im always tossing and turning and wake up and talk to him - in my sleep though!! haha Usually i get about7 hours but i really need more like 9. otherwise im tired for quite abit, apart from the odd burst of energy every now and again... Only get sunday as a lie in due to uni and work so i dont rise until 1pm ish and i am asleep all that time!! and hardly ever to cure a hangover |

Pasha its funny that you say on holiday you can sleep so much, yet back home you have to get up I am exactly the same, I think its a sub conscience thing as you know the horses has to be sorted out so you just get up, I can only lie in if I have had a skin full the night before, other than that I have to get up and need about 7 to 8 hours of sleep a night but I do wake up through the night, my Boyfriend is the same he wakes up throughout the night but can lie in for hours at the weekends. |

I sleep much better in the summer when the neds are out 24/7 and I know I don't need to rush, my subconscious plays a bit part in how much sleep I get and when I also work night shift so this rules my sleep pattern even on nights off, having said that I can sleep anywhere and at any time given the chance. I love my bed, sofa, chair, car, upturned feed bucket...... |

I'm so glad to read about other people's sleep patterns. I though it was only me that had problems....!
I go to bed about 10.00pm cos i feel tired. By the time i've washed my face and cleaned my teeth i feel wide awake again.... I have the TV on in bed and usually fall asleep while this is on. (If hubby's snoreing isn't too loud ) But then wake up about 2am and every hour thereafter until about 6.00pm. The alarm goes off at 6.30am and i feel like i've only just gone to sleep.... I feel so tired through the winter, but not quite so bad in the summer.
I never lay in during the winter as i can't bear the thought of the horses stuck in their stables waiting for me. I'm at the yard for 8.30 at the latest on the weekends.
One of the ladies at our yard has a lay in every sat & sun and sometimes doesn't come to the yard until 11.30 to 12.00. Her horses have been standing in since 4pm the night before and probably finished their hay about midnight then go 11 or 12 hours with no food...
I would feel soooo guilty...
When i go on holiday i still don't sleep that well as the bed is normally uncomfortable ( i like my memory foam mattress..) and i constantly worry about my horses and dogs. God i need to get a life.... |

Oh Nichole I know how you feel you must be so tired, and I hate the thought of Arabi standing in his stable all morning that's why I have to get up, I know a few people who don't surface until midday, you will have to find a way to take your memory foam mattress with you on holiday. a bit big to stuff in your suitcase I know. |
