Has you know I am wintering Kazzy out for the 1st time ever in his 14 years of life, I would say we nearly half way through the winter time and wonder what you thought of his condition. He is fed twice a day which consists of Hight fibre cubes, happy hoof and speedibeat with some carrots and a little hay, sometimes he comes in for a few hours and has a haynet, they are leaving the hay in the field because I thinkt here is enough grasss for them to eat, even by looking at some of the piccies you might not think he has any grass but beleive me theres about 10 acres round the corner that they munch away at all day!!

In his daytime wear a middleweight rug

Naked in his stable (Sorry dont know what happened to the white bits on the picture)

In his jimjams for night time

Do you think he looks ok????? I think he is doing ok and you cant tell with the photos but he hasnt half got a lovely shine on his coat.

I think you have a lovely, happy, chilled out boy there Janet! He looks great. It is nice to see him looking so relaxed and happy in his new home. I do love these 'orange boys'!!!

Good luck for the rest of the winter!

The best thing about having 30 acres at my disposal for just 4 horses is that they can stay about a month in each field so they dont get poached and muddy thats why he has clean feet I think Lynda.

We are moving them again this weekend to another 8 acre field which hasnt been touched since about August.

I will be 8 stone come May with all the walking I do!!

Here's another of him where you can see his condition better waiting patiently to go back to his pal's in the field.

He looks fabulous Jan, doesnt look like he's dropped any condition at all, his coat looks really healthy and he is obviously having the time of his life with Edward & Co . Just think of all the worrying you did about leaving him out and he's more than happy. With the acreage he's got though I'm not surprised

Gosh I wish mine looked like that! she's a teddy bear and I'm desperately trying to get fat OFF her, not keep it on! (much like myself...)

He looks lovely; you're lucky you haven't got much mud, too. Stop worrying!

Hi Lynda,it's hard to see the scale from a photo,it is still a cracking photo of a wagtail though (pretending to be a snowbunting!)
We still have loads of snow and it is snowing heavily right now.I think it may be a stay at home hogmany!
Happy New Year everyone on AL

He is looking very healthy and happy, in fact a credit to you!! most of mine live out with the exeption of the very young and old! As long as they are fed enough and kept dry and warm they do thrive outside and in my opinion are a lot fitter too!!!!

He looks great - don't worry about him! You're lucky to have the change of grazing and your management seems to be spot on, well done.

Thanks for all your replies.

Got down this morning to bring him in and he came in quite slowly for him but he did tuck into his breaky, went back about 10.30 to turn him back out and he's colicing He does it every winter time, so I have had to vet out and luckily it isnt impacted he's got spasmodic colic again so he's stood in his stable with no hay looking like He's had two jabs and I am going to go back in an hour and see him!!

Will have to decide later wether to put him out or keep him in, vet said if he is kicking the door to go out he's better off out eating grass than staying in with hay and feed, the grass goes through them better.
