Well following some bad.Kelvin found our old girl down in distress in the big field yesterday lunchtime, she is 29 years old,to cut a long story short she had a distended small intestine and after tubing positive reflux. We took her into RCVS where she was reassesed and found to have multiple affected loops. She went into surgery at 10.30 last night. All wnet well and she came round and was monitored in a box. Drama at 04.30 when her heart rate went up fast. But all is well this morning and she has pooed. Huge thankyou to tyrells equine clinic and liz and other vets at rcvs. Hopefully all will continue well. Now going back to bed to continure recovering from faux hypothermia.

Wonderful and positive news for your old lady. Fingers crossed, she continues to improve and will soon again be home. What a tough girlie she must be to have come through, after such major and invasive surgery at her age.
Big hugs for all

Crikey - you have a wonderful, positive attitude Kimzi, what an ordeal last night must have been. How marvelous that your old girl has come through the surgery. As others have said she must be very fit for a 29 yr old. I hope that she continues to recover and that you are thawed out now. What a remarkable girl xxxx |

She is still doing well, so fingers crossed she can come home next week providing thereare no complications. She has always been a fighter, the type of pony who filled mothers with a sense of dread. |
