Mother has found a photo of a mare c alled Daisy DoDo born 1946,
by the stallion Simon Mesaoud (AHSB vol IV and GSB) by Sahban(arab) out of Croft Electric Light (TB) (GSB vol XXV p 203)
out of a mare by Aabaan (minature oriental stallion).
Is Simon Mesaoud an anglo stallion? when was the anglo register started?

Don't know if this info helps but:
Sahban was a grey Arab born 1930 by Aldebaran out of Seriya, Aldebaran(Chestnut 1919) was by Dwarka out of Amida. Aldebaran went to Canada in 1929 as Aldebar, USA 1940
Seriya was a grey born 1921 by Skowronek out of Somra
Have only found one purebred offspring for Sahban - Rukuban Grey 1942 out of Roxana
If Croft Electric Light is TB - see Pelle's post above, it would imply that Simon Mesaoud was an anglo stallion. |

Born 12 July 1935
Chestnut with no markings.
by Sahban (AHSB vol 5 p.85 & GSB vol 28 p. 1076)
ex Croft Electric Light (GSB vol 25 p. 203) by Sanglamore ex Delapre
Breeder and Owner;
Lt.-Col. R. S. Follett, DSO, Colchester Farm near Gloucester.

There is also a full sister to him born 1938 called Electric Mesaoud.
It says in my book "The Anglo Arab and Part Bred Arab Horse Register (Volume IV, 1938) that there was a "The Arab-Bred Register" published as follows Vol I (1921), Vol II (1925), Vol III (1929). According to it I would therefore say 1921. in 1934 they decided to split it in to two sections, anglo and part-bred. |

In Vol 1V (1938) Sec 1 (Anglo Arab)of the Anglo and Part bred Arab register, Simon Mesaoud is registered. Born 12th July 1935 by Sahban (Arab) Vol 5 p. 85 & GSB Vol 28, p. 1076 by Aldebarran out of Seriya.
Dam Croft Electric Light (TB) GSB Vol 25 p. 203 by Sanglamore out of Delapre.
Simon Mesaoud is entered in the GSB Vol 28 p. 196
Breeder and Owner: Lt-Col R.S. Follett D.S.O., Colchester Farm, Near Gloucester.
The full sister is also in the same Vol and was born 1st May 1937. There is a note stating that Electric Mesaoud is eligible for entry in the GSB.

She is entered in GSB Vol 29 p.190.
It also says that Croft Electric Light wasn't covered that year (1937) and that she was destroyed in August 1938. |
