Its funny as alot of non arab people have the misconception that arabs are always quite skinny in their build! However, all mine seem to be very good doers and put on weight very easily. Im always trying to keep them slim rather than fatten them up Alethea Aristotle Arabians |

So true Alethea, mine are on the chubby side - I think Arabs are very much like Natives - tough little critters! |

she looks slimmer than when i saw her holly, i'd clip her again, put a lw rug on her and personally wouldn't feed her, just give her some lo-cal or a vit and min. |

In the pic she doesnt look as fat as she does in the flesh..her back is actually flat like a table top and she has a hollow area either size of her spine which collects water when it rains!!!! Was thinking about re clipping and taking more hair off, more of a high trace clip as she hasnt been clipped since october i think.
Am going to try and start riding her again even if its just once a week..so hard in winter. i brough a really big girth off ebay this week so i can now use my saddle!
Feed wise all shes getting is a couple of handfulls of mollichaff calmer, couple of handfulls of allen and pages slim and healthy and a little bit of fast fibre mash once a day and its just to keep her quiet while the others get a proper feed. Haylage wise they each get a feed bag worth of haylage in 4 separate piles.
My vet said hes not worried about her always being a bit fat cos he said that arabs naturally are but obviously at the moment she is too fat.
Right i will update you all with a new pick of a hopefully slimmer girl in a few weeks time. It is funny how its all mares that seem to be fat!! |

Crickey i see what you mean Holly , she is rather fat , i honestly don`t think you`ll get her weight off unless you fence her on her own & cut her food right down ,but its going to be impossible to do this when she can get access to everyone else`s rations! |
