Don't want to hijack anyone elses posts, so thought I'd post a little update on my two for you as I am soo proud of both of them....
We've moved (2 weeks ago) and are now posh full livery Arabs lol! Pasha and Shesk travelled like Pros (1st time travelling together and 1st time Shesk had been in my trailer - neither had travelled for a while either!)
Both boys have settled in incredibly well! In fact, I think they prefer a more rigid routine and love their new little paddock  Pasha went out on his own yesterday whilst I rode Shesk and didn't even look up when Shesk went into the field!
Last week the vet came and took x-rays and Shesky's pedal bones are back to where they should be, phew! And he can start work! Yippee! Although I have to walk for a month (no schooling), it is so fantastic to be back on an Arab again! Just feels right
I took him on his first little hack in over 5 months yesterday and although getting on was a bit of a drama (foot in stirrup, off he went, i'm still on the mounting block, he he) he behaved better than a police horse! We went out round the 30 min block, all road work with lots going on (road works - they ae completely redoing all the water mains, big scary dustbin lorries and lots of cyclists, walkers etc)and he was a complete angel 
Stopped off at home (as now ride past home to get back to the yard ) for some well deserved carrots from mum and dad and mum took pics (one is below - please excuse the stains, it is winter!). So very very proud of the little mud hippo!
Pasha also had very good x-rays His pedal bones are in the right place too, but where his feet have been through so much, he just needs a bit more time and some help from the farrier before he can start getting out and about again!
They both also had 100% bloods which is fantastic and it means Pasha's tablets are working and Shesk doesn't have Cushings or IR!
So all in all, very happy indeed and can't wait to get cracking over winter! Already have my name down for some clinics in March and planning Shesky's dressage debut!
Shesky on my drive yesterday (I am the bright Yellow thing on top lol!)

| Aw thanks I feel so guily as I haven't washed him in ages and he loves to wallow, bless him! Planning to give the tail and legs a good wash when the rain stops! |

Lovely post Pasha!! Really chuffed for you!!
Wish my greys were as clean as that.....mine could easily be mistaken for bays (especially Lomond ). |

Great post. So glad you're back on board and all's well (what happened with shesk? I knew Pasha had been unwell...)
I pig oiled mine for the first time today. Very satisfying to see the mud just slide off them. I had the farrier to do their trims, so got them all dry and clean for their trims, then oiled them up afterwards. Have you heard of many having reactions to it?

Shesk got the dreaded Lami! I couldn't believe it and felt so so guilty! Thought I had done everything right (he was changed to Pasha's Lami diet as soon as I got him) and he was fit as a flea, just about to go to the RIHS!!!
Just goes to show that you can't be too careful! He was a little bit stiff for a few weeks and neither physio nor anyone else thought anything of it! We just thought being 13 he maybe finding school work a bit challenging! Even the vet, when I phoned and said he is slightly lame, didn't dream it was Lami!
He was such a brave boy though! After 2 days being in the box he was sound, but he had quite bad rotation in one of his feet so we've been very cautious with getting him back out and ridden again! Although getting out of the box didn't happen soon enough He embarked on an elaborate DIY project in his stable and was a bit lively to lead out
To be honest, that's why we've moved as the grass was just too good being an ex dairy farm where we were - Shesk soon learned how to hook his muzzle through the gate and then taught Pasha how to do it!!! So at least now I don't have to worry about the grass as it's all old meadow gorgeous and short, and if I want to limit their time out on it, i can!
/... I haven't heard of any horses reacting to Pig Oil but you never know with my two! Think Shesk was alergic to the Ecobed so don't want ot take any chances! Think I wil start off with his mane and tail and if ok, move onto his legs x |

Oh no! I was only talking to my farrier yesterday about this. We both agreed that if you chuck your horse out into a field, never check it and just let do whatever it pleases, it doesn't get half as many ailments as all the rest of us who spend hours a day slaving over them, and when we're not with them, researching the best ways to keep them! It is so unfair! I think you've done the right thing though, moving them.
Let's hope things get better from here on in!
All mine are looking good today with their piggy/unmuddy legs! I'm very impressed. The girls and raf have gleaming white legs, and mary the pony (black legs) looks like i've been at her with the furniture polish, lol. All have lovely glossy manes and tails too. Very impressed.

I'm glad things are loking better for your neds Pasha . I too have had one down with the dreaded Lami for no particular reason, but even though she is now sound unfortunately i am not  . They are a constant worry but i think most of us wouldn't any other way. Shesky looks great and you must do full reports on your clinics and progress for us all (which ones are you doing?) |

LOL! I LOVE my jacket!!! It is soo soft (really it is) and all fleecy lined! Saw it in Frogpool (they only had a few) and so glad I brought it there and then as i've never seen soft hi vis ones again!
My mum was nearly killed on the road so I take hacking safety gear very seriously!
I have already booked on the SEAHG clinics - more to see what Pat thinks of him as I respect her opinion! AND I want to do some dressage ones with him as we have transport so should use it realy and get out and about.... did think of applying to do a top German trainers clinic, but it's 3hrs away and I'm trying to keep my feet on the ground, not get too excited and put too much pressure on ourselves before he's even done a prelim lol!
AND we're going to try our hand at Endurance hopefully if we ever get fit enough.... roll on 2010! |
