I had a phonecall this morning from the man who keeps horses in the fields next to mine to say that 3 of my horses came running over to him whilst he was feeding his but nakeeta wasnt there.....then all of a sudden she came flying over a 5ft hedge and got caught on the barbwire on top of it then landed on her feet and raced over to the others.
You can imagine what went through my head!! i thought she would have ripped stomach open or severed artery in legs or something but he checked her over and said that miracleously she didnt have any wounds at all and even her rug is not ripped! very lucky escape.
ive got all 4 girls grazing two fields at the moment and the other 3 came running up through the gate way and nakeeta must have been left behind in the 2nd field paniked and just ran at the hedge!
I hate barbwire and would never have it on my own land but as i dont own this land i cant take it down. It is very tight barbwire though and like i said the hedges are 5ft high well established.
This is the mare who has wobbler type symptoms due to her spinal injury who i was told could never jump do fast work/be ridden in the field! She was also supposed to be in foal but luckily isnt or i could have had a double catastophy.
Im going to put electric fencing above the barbwire today to make it a bit more visible.
