Quite agree, they should stick to sky diving and bungees and not inflict these ' celebrities' on living creatures who didn't ask to be there and heartily looked as if they didn't want to be. Bad idea; whoever had it has a lot to answer for.. |

What gets me is that they all accused the horses of throwing them off!!! Er hello, the poor things were just trying to save themselves as they got ever deeper and you slipped off the side!

I found it on the ITV web site. I am a great complainer and will send in mine about the poor horses too.

Thanks for the link Sue, I have also complained. I was horrified when I watched this last night. Apart from the obvious abuse of those horses, I was amazed no body got seriously hurt. Sue |

That programme doesnt seem to care if innocent animals get hurt or even eaten Even though I dont like slugs/rats/creepy crawlie things.
I for one wont be watching it and I am glad I didnt watch it last night if thats what happened.

Hi everyone. Just thought you would like to see my reply from my complaint to viewers TV. I also complained to Offcom.
emailDear Mrs Bundy
Thank you for your recent email regarding Sundays episode of Im a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here!
The horses are specifically trained to trek through water and swim on a daily basis. The celebrities were given a full and thorough briefing before they took part in the trek, and were accompanied at all times by expert handlers.
May I take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to contact us here at ITV as we always welcome viewers feedback.
Regards

I didn't expect much more but at least they have been made aware that viewers are looking in and will say something if we don't approve. I guess those horses were specifically trained to be happy about being wrenched about by the contestants?

Sue, I had exactly the same reply. I wonder how many complaints they had? I think i'll ask them what Katie Price thinks as she has been trained to ride a dressage test, hopefully she would have an opinion and even if not the most brilliant horsewoman on the planet she surely knows a little about balance and not tearing the poor horse's mouth to bits! |

Katie Price normally speaks her mind she I'm sure would have said something if she has been there. As she is getting around £300,000 for her appearance maybe she might agree to agree with the producers!
It could have gone so horribly wrong with horses thrashing about. Still as they have said above, the horses have been trained to swim every day
I do love this programme and would normally not complain. But those horses did look very afraid to me. |

That was not entertainment.... its 2009 and they still doing things like that, the horses maybe used to swimming but not with some dumb witt celeb on thier back thrashing, jumping and shouting on their backs dragging them down, the horses didnt look happy to me. |

I did respond to my patronising reply asking what Katie Price thought about it having been trained by a top Dressage Trainer, but of course they haven't come back to me, but just read this: http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/news/397/291855.html Obviously lots more people complained. |

I posted about this on Sunday after watching the program (on tea and cake time) and was sad to see it hadn't gained much attention, as I was sickened by what I saw. I am really pleased to see it has gained some attention here. I put my complaint in to ofcom. If people don't complain about animal abuse the general public will become even more desensitized to it, so well done everyone. The horses sure looked unhappy to me and also in poor condition. As for Kattie Price, if you ask me she won't give a damm as long as it's not affecting her directly! |

I felt so sorry for the horses, even if they are trained to go through the water etc., it is still different with an unexperienced rider wobbling on their back! |

I was being a bit facetious when I said the horses are trained to swim
Just a shame they didn't train the celebs to ride!!

This issue has also had coverage in the non-horsy press (e.g. the Telegraph Online) The claim is that there were only around 100 complaints, but it's looking as though the criticism is rather stronger than that. I didn't see it and frankly I'm glad I missed it. |

Have just read about this topic on the H & H website - apparently some of the celebs got their feet stuck in the stirrups during the crossing - very dangerous - if the horse had been washed away the rider would have been dragged with it. I was taught to keep your feet clear of the stirrups while crossing strong/deep rivers so that you could get clear if necessary. Sounds like a highly unprofessional outfit to me... |
