Has anyone heard of this or had a foal with this condition? I'm asking as I had a foal born this year who has been completely normal in all ways but has a strange patch of slightly longer hair on his forehead and my vet said he may have spina bifida. Now I'm trying to find out as much as I can but nothing is coming up when I google it. Any input would be greatly appreciated.
I thought spina bifida only affected the spine? All the human people I know with the condition suffer from physical disability to one degree or another.
Said the little eohippus, "I´m going to be a HORSE"
Can't help with horses, but, with regard to the strange patch of hair, did anyone watch the programme about dog breeding -- the one that caused the BBC to say that they would no longer cover Crufts??
If I remember rightly, the programme said that the 'ridge' on a Rhodesian Ridgeback was caused by a form of spina bifida.
Interesting Mrs DJ, I never saw the programme I wonder if that is true? The foal has no problems whatsoever apart from this diamond patch of hair on his forehead, no ridge down his back though! Thanks for the reply.
