Wiz had another stookie change today and the wound is looking really good and is healing really well. can you tell im chuffed He had his last antibiotics yesterday so cross fingers that any infection keeps at bay.

Delighted that your lovely boy is home with you. I'm sure he will come on in leaps and bounds, once the stookie is off!!
How long will he need to wear it?
All the best, Sandra xx |

11/11/09 a wiz update.
He had a stookie change again today and vet is so chuffed with the leg and the wound, swelling right down on the break and the wound is healing really well. only downside is he has developed another pressure sore he had one above the hock when he came home but has now developed another one on the front of the hock too....they are very sore and we have had to pad them to the hilt.......so the stookie is taking longer than ever to change ::) but he being a brave soldier and managing it without sedation ;D
Sandra, he is off back to the dick vet in three weeks time for more xrays hopefully we will know better how long he will be stookied for. |

Oh Emma,
I am so happy that The Wonderful Wiz is doing well. What a brave boy he is to be dealing with it all so well.
Can you imagine the foals that my Buffy and your Wizard 'could' have had (hypothetically!)
Brave, courageous and very good looking, but somewhat accident prone, I think!!!
Really chuffed for you and him!

Not such good news today folks
We had had to do another dressing change today as he was very sore this am......Its not the break or the wound its these bl**dy pressure sores. Have redone his sores with mankuna honey dressings, (grandma thought these might help as she uses them on her old folks with bed sores etc) I ordered them from my local chemist.
So he is back on the bute and another dressing change on Tue....vet now thinking she may have to reduce the bandage to try and help the sores but where does that leave us with the fracture

Dear Emma,
I am sorry to hear that he has been sore.
It seems that the road to recovery is sort of 2 steps forward, 1 step back...
Let's hope that it is just a 'blip' and he continues to get better.
Best wishes, Sandra x |

Poor Wizard, Let's hope that the honey dressings do their stuff and that his pressure sores improve as soon as possible - they sound awful. |
