Seems Paypal allows no options to characterize the donation has a gift, which means they charge their fees on the amount donated. If you prefer to donate this way, as it's simpler, it's ok, but know that the usual Paypal fee will apply.
If you want to donate without the button, thus having the possibility of choosing to mark it as a gift, you can use the email address to donate from your paypal account directly:
