I'm being dim, I thought a Holstein cow would be a different species to the Holstein horse !
Mmmmm thinking again... |

Jen - What I mean is Holstein is a breed of the horse species - likewise it is a breed of the cow species.
They served in the Boar, Sudan and 1st World Wars and are now registered as a rare breed. They have memorial statues dedicated to them in their country. One well known one, during World War I, when they were outflanked by the Turks, carried FIVE men – three on his back and one on each stirrup - three quarters of a mile .75 miles (1.21 km) through soft sand at a lumbering gallop.

Oh NO! I think I've found it, but then I'll have to think of a question and that could take quite some time |

If it's the breed I think it is it owes it's name more to geography than another species. Just hoping someone else will get it |

Good heavens that was beyond me !
I'll pose a couple of questions but don't have access to a PC tomorrow so won't be able to say yeh or nay so someone else may have to set one if you get the answers right.
1. What is the name of the Goddess of the Horse? 2. What is the name of the Thoroughbred who is considered to be one of the foundation sires of the Quarter Horse? 3. What was the most common type of Roman Chariot called?
There you go campers, I'm off to my bed now ~ happy quizzing !

I didn't mean the Australian bit, I was referring to the the connection with New South Wales, which is where I thought the name Waler came from |

Excellent 2 out of 3 correct!
Please do feel free to ask some questions in case everyone has given up the will to live on the matter of Roman chariots ! |

Oh bummer!! Was hoping all three would have to be correct.
My question will have to be dead easy I'm afraid - name the showjumper ridden by David Broome, who was owned by Massarellas. (Sorry - all I can think of!!)
By the by, what's the correct answer to the third question, or are you still leaving it open to guesses?? |

So I take it from that the chariot answer is the wrong one. Hmmm, Bigae is the answer I came up with too. |

Ah! I've found another answer, did you mean drawn by 2 horses abreast or 4 Jen? Make that three answers:- Biga 2 horses Triga 3 horses Quadriga 4 horses abreast.
