The show was a great success, LOVELY horses! The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly and it was a pleasure to see so many stunning horses, many of a similar ( fabulous!!!) stamp. It really was a fantastic endorsement of Crabbet breeding. Everyone seemed to enjoy themseves and the food was delicious too!) Unfortunately in my case Bryn's little head got melted and he suffered from plot loss most of the day... the only time he was calm was in the in hand when I was on the ground to give him reassurance.... at this point he practically fell asleep !! However Sealy enjoyed the handy Arab, which was good fun but held very late, in the evening by which time most people had gone home. Michelle I didn't see but heard that Khalifa got Supreme in the ridden ... well done !!!! Mandy, Pam and Liz did a fantastic job organising this show, well done girls!! |

Morning all, I will try and get the results posted later today and Liz is sorting out the photo's so hopefully we'll get some up here tomorrow. The overall ridden champion was Khalifa Golden Cavalier by Golden Cavalier/Marih Layla owned by our very own Michelle (Ghaleem), Michelle broke her arm 2 days before the show so Lorna Erwin took up the ride, she had never got on Khalifa before the morning of the show, so very well done.
The overall in hand champion was the gorgeous Illuminate by Imad/Illaria.
Thank you to everyone who made the show a success, particularly the people who brought their fabulous Crabbet horses, our lovely judges, very professional steward, our compere, The Crabbet Organisation and their exquiste rosettes ( I want one !) and all the spectators who clapped with appreciation, but without a whoop or rattle to be heard.
Mandy

To echo Mandy - Thank you to all the competitors for bringing their beautiful crabbet horses, the lovely judges & steward & Richard our compere, and all the spectators & sponsors for supporting us in our 1st ever Welsh Crabbet Show.
It was a very looonnng day, but to have so many lovely comments off people at the event, made it all worth while.
The photos are being worked on, and should be availiable either later on tonight or tomorow.
Thank you again Liz xx

Congrats to the Organisers of the Welsh Crabbett Show....a so much needed show and hope it continues to grow. IMO the Crabbetts are the ultimate Arabian Riding horse and superb competition Arabian....bring then on!!!
Though not a pure Arab Breeder, we based the Arabian blood in our foundation Anglo stock, on Indian Magic bloodlines and several generations on, introduced Polish Arabian Bloodlines, (Musketeer) and the mix has indeed, along with selective Thoroughbred input, given us wonderful, good looking show horses with amazing temperament AND all, have gone on as proven competition horses
Just love the Crabbetts ...REAL ARABIANS
Delighted for all those who attended...sounds though you had a lovely relaxed day...and must have been so refreshing not to have been subjected to all the whooping and hollering....which all too often spoils the day, particularly if exhibiting in ridden classes.
Our fifth generation Great, Great, Great, grandson of Indian Magic, and reckon he shows very much, the old Magic `type` even though he is an Anglo (43.75% Arab/56.25% Thoroughbred)
Oscar is Hubby`s Pleasure/Endurance Riding Horse and is 16.2hh. Tony is 6`3" and makes Oscar look like a pony

Hi Babs, thanks for that, it was a lovely day, we will probably be adding partbreds and anglo classes next year if there is sufficient interest, though one parent will have to meet the 75% Crabbet rule. Love your boy a real nice stamp of horse, we have a soft spot for TB's and anglo's here to,

What a brilliant day we had yesterday, the show was relaxed and friendly yet really well organised (loved the commentator - he was fab). Mandy, Pam and Liz you worked so hard and i hope you are proud of yourselves. I would love to come again next year and it would be great if you did do the Crabbet realated classes as Ruwi could come too!
I was so proud of Khalifa and i cant tell you how grateful i am to Lorna Erwin for riding him at such short notice. She literally met him an hour before her dressage test and managed to win with the amazing score of 75% I think my fractured arm was a blessing in disguise as there is no way i would have ridden him so well!!! Also i can now enjoy five weeks off work
Thankyou Debbie (Debonicks) and Nick, for loading him and bringing him to the show and helping with everything. We really enjoyed your company all weekend and i think we are definately friends for life now Your horses are just a amazing in real life as i imagined them.
Michelle
Edited to say Mandy, i was so impressed with Joe yesterday! I havent met him before and he was absolutely adorable and didnt put a foot wrong all day. Helen has got herself a fab horse there!

I'd also like to add my thanks to Mandy, Liz, Pam and all their helpers for a really fantastic day out, all your hard work paid off in a wonderful show. The atmosphere was relaxed and happy, I met so many nice people and saw some really gorgeous horses.
Can't wait to see the pictures and Omar and I are already looking forward to next years show.

WOW! What a weekend!!!I've driven 657 miles this weekend (checked the mileage!) and it was really worth it I'm sitting here with a towel around my head and a nice cup of tea, I'm shattered
Mandy,Pam,Liz and crew, you should be very proud of yourselves It was a super show and we're so glad we came.I've never been to a show where everyone is so friendly and helpful, I learnt a lot
It was the first show for both our horses and it was just perfect for them. At one stage we thought we wouldn't be able to show them as I hurt my leg a week before the show then Michele said she would take them in for me, but she fractured her arm! Michele's partner Gavin showed Flame (Marbon Mansour) for me, thanks Gavin great job Magic (Marbon Majali Magic) was very excited about the whole thing and I am very grateful to Lorna Erwin and Becky Jones both did a great job with him .... it wasn't easy!!
Congratulations to Lorna Erwin and Khalifa who won Ridden Champion Khalifa had not been in a trailer or to any shows for two years! In fact he came in straight from the field! Lorna briefly met him and took him in and won, she has a lovely way with horses
I wish I had more time to admire all the wonderful horses, it was like Crabbet heaven for me, but the whole day is a bit of a blur and went very quickly! I took loads of photos and will have a proper look at them tomorrow. Michele, You and Gavin are definatly friends for life! Thank you so much for your great hospitality. xxx
We look forward to next years Welsh Crabbet Show, well done everyone and thank you all for a great day!

Hi, Also enjoyed the show very much. Lovely horses and friendly atmosphere - nice to meet you Mandy. Managed to drag OH to the show for a few hours but left early as we had a mountain to climb so missed all the championships and handy pony classes. I took a few photos but most of them are out of focus - here is the lovely Illuminate (Hope it works I'm a bit computer illiterate). |

Congratulations to everyone
Wish we could have been there but we were supposed to be competing at a British Eventing One Day Event - and then it was cancelled Friday night!!!!
Can't think of a better sight than a whole arena full of Crabbets and Old English.
Love the idea of parts/Anglos being eligible - we've got a 75% part that is Old English all the way on the Arab side so it would be good for him to take part in his Crabbet heritage!!!
Seems like a wonderful tribute to the marvellous Imad as well - justly deserved |
