Sorry if you've been waiting for me guys Didn't get to bed until about 9am (night shift) so I've only just come on here. My brain's not awake yet so I'll have to have a think. |

The photo belongs to me, that's why I took so long posting, my scanner wasn't working so I had to take a photo of the photo etc etc. The only clue I will give at the moment was that Jen was lukewarm
ETA When I said BNC from the last decade I actually meant the 90's not just IN the last ten years, it was longer ago than that, sorry if that confused anyone |

I think it might be Pilarka then, 1992? although the only connection I can find with lalique is an Aswan grand daughter and being both from Gucci's? |

Well done, yes it is the lovely Pilarka The photo was taken at the Nationals in 1992 when she was BNC. I was bowled over by her regal aura, even when I saw her at the Gucci sale just standing in her stable and not in her prime. My next clue would have been that she was owned and bred by some of the most famous studs in the world. |

Very interesting that picture of Pilarka. In the vein of quite a lot of the Polish arabs, her head isn't that extreme and yet she is utterly captivating. Beautiful photograph ! |

I expect Vera will be along soon, she's probably doing the horses at the moment. Just out of interest does anyone know if Pilarka had any more foals after she went to Halsdon or did she just have a happy retirement there? Incidently I totally agree with Jens comment |

I thought that perhaps she had one more baby whilst at Halsdon but I seem to recall that she was a very difficult mare to get in foal which is such a shame. Gorgeous girl ! |

What is the name of the arab stallion which appeared in the 1940's film The Thief of Bagdad? Bonus question, who was his famous owner?
I'm out for the evening so won't see any replies until later. |

As Summerhays was a famous author, I thought it was him, but I've been searching for the name of the horse for AGES with no luck so I'm going to leave this to someone else and go and stick my head in a book and try to think of a question for the other quiz |

Who didn't own The Observer's Book of Horses and Ponies written by R S Summerhays - I certainly did, and most likely still do if I go and look in the loft!!!!!
He also wrote a book called The Arabian Horse in Great Britian and talks about him in there......
