Silver Shales was registed as riding pony in NPS. His breeding carries hackney and Tb bloodlines and traces back to pre hackney registers with Norfolk Roadster lines. He was bred by Mrs Margaret Colquhoun, and stood att stud with her daughter Miss Elizabeth Colquhoun at Little Tingewicke House, Finmere, Bucks. for many years. He died in 1981 aged 31 years. He played polo and hunted for many years, and sired alot of good stock. My mother bought a 3 yearold colt by him called Kipsy Kim (born in 1953)and he was used for many years in sweden producing riding ponies. And I have a granddaughter bred by Miss Colquhoun, called Miss Spindle by Shales Red Squirrel(by Silver Shales) ex Spin by Mark Shales( by Silver Shales) now aged 20, and she has produced alot of very good foals. |

I took a photo with my cellphone of a picture of Silver Shales taken in 1968, but how can I put here on the forum? I can email it to someone who knows how to include it here. I have also photos of some of his stock. |
