Does anyone remember a topic a while ago about a horse being advertised, think it was a PBA? that was using a photo lifted from someone else's website of a totally different horse? Could someone PM me with who was involved as I am horsehunting and have come across something that rings a bell with me on this same topic. I may be totally wrong but I would like to check! Anyone remember? Thanks, Linette

Yes, that was it, there was a forum member who knew what was happening. I have seen a horse advertised but when I google the phone number, it comes up with this advert (I think), the one that had the "stolen" photo, even though the person selling the horse I am interested in is supposed to be in a different place with a different name which seems odd yet both adverts (for different horses) can have the same mobile phone number! Any help appreciated, obviously don't want to put names here in case it is all totally inncocent!

Hi Can help you on this one as the photo was lifted off my website!!
The horse being advertised was an Anglo Arab mare, and the pic lifted and used was of an Anglo Arab Gelding (Spellsbury Supernova) at the Finals of Cherif Championships, who is sired by our Anglo Stallion Sunray Superstar out of Wrenthorpe Ballerina (by Sunray Scelebrity)
The advertiser had `cut off` the riders head in her advert for `Hazelcroft Hallmark`
I recognised the pic immediately and challenged the advertiser, who insisted it was her horse and that her Mother had taken the photo of her at BSPS Championships. I contacted the Magazine, and sent copy of the fraudulently used photo. The Mag editor agreed it was our photo and cancelled the picture on the web advert. I understand she had also used the same pic on several other website Magazine Horse Sales adverts.
Sorry, did not keep a record of her name or phone numbers (believe she was in the Manchester or similar area)
What a cheek, what next will these unscrupulous no goods be up to???
Hope this info helps and would be obliged if it is the same advertiser again using this pic, you would give us the details

Thanks for posting the previous thread - i had searched but couldn't find it. A horse I was approached about as being for sale has the same telephone number as this advert with a different name so I think to be safe, I will stay well clear! May be totally innocent but just in case, if a person is dishonest about one thing, then they may not be truthful about the horse. Seems funny that 2 people with different names selling PBAs have the same phone number. Linette |

Slightly different but similar! We found a really nasty scam recently when looking for a puppy. Advert said "Free to good home a litter of puppies". The advert said that you would get everything ie papers, carry cage, toys etc and you just had to guarantee to look after the puppy. We smelled a rat when we saw loads of the same advert all over the country. I guessed the sacm when they said that you would just need to pay carriage of puppy to your door, guess what, up front. Where it is similar is that they very cruelly showed cute photos of the puppies which we then found were just sitting on the internet if you googles them. I can't believe how sick people are. Must be very disturbing if it is a photo of your own horse. |

there was a scam on preloved very recently, it stated that horses were for sale in London to loving homes and seemed to be for rehabiliated horses including an Arab. The prices were low but not ludicrously so. The ad's had photos I would guess from a US website and the breeding details were of US horses (Bask son etc), I suspect the aim was to dupe some one into paying a deposit that promplty disappered!
I think preloved were notified and pulled the adverts. |
