Paula, I love the pictures you have posted, so natural and everybody looks so happy! Love the one of 'the girls' who are you all and which one is you ? Do you all still keep in touch, just realised that it was 20 years ago..!

This is such an interesting walk down memory lane, however it makes me feel very old and yes gossy you should write a book.
I am also very lucky to own a Gucci bred horse G Sohaila ( Ibn Estopa x Serayya) does anyone know anything about Serayya (Shahir x White Lace) did Gucci own her or did he lease her heard different stories, would love to see some pics of her.
G Sohaila is the white grey in my sig. pics (i have owned her for the last five years before that Alice Keats owned her)

Alun Protheroe owned Serraya and she was leased to Millfield. I think around the time Ann Green was manager. She was a lovely mare :) Did Gucci lease Carmargue ?? Not sure if he actually went there though ??? |

Yes Delyth, he did lease Carmargue, its there that I first saw him but that is interesting that he leased Serayya as well, I wonder if she ever had a foal by Carmargue? |

Thankyou Liza, yes they were all very natural, it was 20+ years ago to, so you have to allow for the technology available at the time, I am seriously thinking of doing a book, as the people who knew me back then will tell you that i was a naughty little buggar, so you can imagine the many many risque and funny stories to be told. Also happy and sad ones to, but thankfully not too many sad ones. We had a blast!! |

I am the proud mum of Keystone (Klarnet x Rodanieh Rusalka), known as Katie, who lyndilou is talking about on page 2 and Katie has given me more than I ever imagined. I had started asking for a horse at two years old but had to wait 40 years to achive this dream, a long wait but worth every second to end up with a horse like Katie, she is my absolute pride and joy and I will never be able to put into words how much I love her and what she means to me. I have had Katie for 12 years and she will always be with me, nothing would make me part with her, what she has given me is priceless. Mick and I even moved to France so that we could live with the children (horses) rather than have them on diy livery, even though the yard was fantastic. I now have three wonderful Arabian horses, DF Bosanova (Bambooki x Amarylis Belladonna) and Shadiyah Al Azhar (Classic Shadwan x Flaxmans Omasra) and they are all wonderful, loving horses and it was Katie who made it possible to buy Bossie and Shadiyah as foals as we had learnt how to do things with her and she was a wonderful second mum to them. I appreciate every day with the horses and they will be with me for the rest of their lives. A huge thank-you has to go to Lynda Free, Dreamfield Arabians for Katie and Bossie and to Ute Claussing, Al Azhar Arabian Stud for Shadiyah, they certainly changed my life more than I ever imagined but I wouldn't want it any other way. |

Yes our beautiful arab horses have a way of doing that, once youve met one they do change your life. that was the love i found when i looked after Ku-ribi at Millfield and that is why i searched for any offspring of hers,as i knew she had a fab home with Peg. |

Serraya was leased, she went back in 1993 I think, as I remember her.
Paolo also leased Bint Fikkri from A. P. too.
I haven't had time to look for any more photo's yet, but I will do.
I was going to look for a picture of Amber Satin! There was so many mares you would just forget about, Pesenka being another one.

I had the priveledge of going to Alan Prothero's place many years ago when he was living in Harrogate and I saw Carmargue and also a few mares he had then, I took loads of pictures that day which he let me do and I am wondering if I took some of Sorayya, I cant remember the name to be honest, he had Bur Sable there at the time I went.
If anyone knows what she looked like I might be able to find thepictures and scan them.
Janet
ps. Oh Gossy you HAVE to write this book |

We were lucky to buy Encendedora prior to the sale - at the time she was one of the few who looked well. Ansata Aya Halima made me cry, she was amazingly beautiful but too rich for our pockets
Sadly we never got to use our breeding to Barif as it would have been good to carry on that line
The horse we had out eye on was Estasha Bint Masri but the bidding on her was way out of our league. I also wanted to bid on Caravella but my OH said she was too old

I'd definately buy the book too!
Were many of the horses backed at Millfield, and if so, who did the backing/exercising??
What was the ridden showing element like from the stud? I know Penny rode in classes. I'm afraid I came in on the Atab ridden showing scene after the stud's end and the auction so I missed it all... |

Fudge above was a 1993 colt, sorry I really can't remember his real name.
I did the backing from 93-97 by memory I backed a few girls, G Poloma G Natanya were two Arroganz a colt and started some horses again that had either been backed but previous grooms were frightened of, Sistonce was one I loved to ride, but no one else would get on him! lol, I started getting him ready for racing when he was bought by Nola Stephens to race. I started Pilarka, Eka & Distancia again they had once raced many years before. Apart from that I rode all the boys except Peleng, but Rumak was only ridden by Seamus during my time there.
