Picked him up Saturday and he's mine on 3-month trial then long term loan. I'm so excited and thrilled after months of looking!! I'd like to say HUGE thanks to everyone here who helped me during my quest of finding a new horse. I couldn't have done it without you guys
Meet Tuki:
And in his showing glory:
He's had a year off on grass so we're taking it slow and have just started with some ground work (NH) and lunging. He's picking things up quickly but the lunging will take some time as he doesn't know what I'm asking for when on the right reign and promptly proceeds to pose instead of walking forwards
Non-horsey hubby very much in love with him (he doesn't bite and isn't grumpy) and has even gone to buy some feed for him today!!!
Hopefully we can use the next 6 months for building up his muscles and getting to know each other before embarking on a new endurance career next year.
THANKS again to everyone that has helped me - this is THE place to be for friendly arab advice!!!

SHESK is 50% Crabbet 50% Eqyptian I believe - still can't get a Crabbet Cert though I have a feeling he maybe a bit more! http://www.allbreedpedigree.com/shesk
If he is anything like Shesk he will be a DUDE! Like your non-horsey OH, mine also LOVES Shesk - as does the whole Yard! + Vet and Farrier!!! Really I hav to fight my way to his box as everyone loves to give him kisses! My Farrier went to shoe other horses at the yard and called me to say he'd checked on little Shesk! Hope none of them try to pinch him
Edited to say: just looked on Shesk's comments on allbreedpedigree and it says he is 63.72% Crabbet Missed that before!! Would be worth finding out how much your boy actually is as you maybe eligible for Crabbet classes? |

I'm over the moon as you can probably guess and so thankful to Jo letting me loan him
9 years old, 15hh, grey with black skin (yay, no photosensitivity), has done loads of inhand showing, always well placed with 2nd at Malvern, high placings at Towerlands and in Belgium! Was shown by Caroline Reeves. Has been backed and hacked out plus done a sponsored ride before being turned out for a year on grass as the owner didn't have time to ride him having another 7 horses to look after!
He's got the nicest gentlest temperament, such a sweetie pie and has a brilliant party trick, giving you a kiss for a carrot |

Your boy is half brother to my Lady Alarabi, the dark bay mare [head]in my signature piccies.
Her Dam is also Zushi, but she was sired by So Black Alarabi. She was also bred at MHS [Moat House Stud].
Your boy looks lovely, congratulations
Yes you are right, Crabbet on his Dam's side and Egyptian on his Sire's side. Crabbet/Egyptian is a superb cross, IMO |

Congratulations on your lovely boy. I was stud manager at Moat House Stud when he was born and named him after the millenium year (Year 2k hence the name). I have a picture of him playing in the snow as a foal and will try to post it on here. He has made a lovely horse just like his father.Zushi had a lovely temperament and was a fabulous mother. I wish you both lots of fun, happiness and friendship together.

Thank you everyone Will definitely keep you updated on progress and we might just be doing some stressage during the winter to build some muscles - my new lovely yard is very conveniently located within hacking distance to our local large competition centre where they have excellent dressage series summer and winter (plus clear round jumping if we get brave...). It's also just across the road from the Downs and miles of beautiful hacking which I'm hugely excited about, plus it's hacking distance to Arachnid as well so no more need for the trailer to meet up
Caroline, v interesting about his name! Would love to see the pic of him in the snow.
If anyone has piccies of his dam and sir I'd love to see them too. Certainly sounds like he has their good temperament. I've not been onboard yet (!!!) but will hopefully get on within the next week - he picks up on things very quickly, we were lunging walk and trot on BOTH reins yesterday for the first time so I'm sure we'll get there, slowly but steady. |

Yes, I am very very very pleased And yes there is an option to buy at a later date which suits me just fine for the moment.
Lauren - yes he is a good mover, has been showing off in the field and it makes me smile every time!
Took him for a walk around the farm inhand yesterday and although it was very exciting he took it all in his stride, didn't mind the hay cutting machinery at all which I'm really pleased about. Mind you the spook at the pheasant flying up in front of us was rather big and I was happy to be on the ground!! |
